For my husband, Joe. You are my perfect match, and I’m so thankful to the Lord that He chose you for me. Your love has been a protective covering from the enemy’s arrows. I’m waiting with anticipation to see every promise of the Lord demonstrated in our life together and thankful for every day that I have been your wife.
To the memory of my father, Dr. Robert C. Barnard or as I always referred to him, Daddy.
He so magnificently modeled the unconditional and sacrificial love of my Heavenly Father, it was easy to know in my heart that we are truly the apple of His eye and it is His delight to bring blessing and provision into every detail of our lives. Daddy, you taught me to determine to set my forehead like flint with the Word in my heart that I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me. You stood with me in faith believing for God to bring my God-chosen husband until your promotion to heaven and I know you were watching, as part of the great cloud of witnesses, with tears of thanksgiving when I walked down the aisle to become Mrs. Joseph Turek.

Foreword
As a director and minister of a healing ministry, I have had the opportunity to hear the hearts of many single women who are believing God for the mate that He has chosen for their lives. I have heard the hearts of married women who are praying and believing for their husband to walk in the maturity and victory that God has for them. I would like to commend my good friend and ministry partner, Mary Turek, for allowing the Holy Spirit to use her life as an example to others. The direction and encouragement she gives through the Word and her own personal life in this book brings hope in hopeless situations.

I considered it an honor when Mary Turek asked me to write a foreword for her book. Mary states in her book that if you take your eyes off Jesus and you’re not trusting in Him, you will take things into your own hands.
In Mary’s quest to allow the Lord to choose her mate for her I never once saw or knew of a time when she took her eyes off Jesus and did not trust Him for her future.
Mary was truly a sign and a wonder as I watched her through the years wait on God for her mate. She never wavered in her trust in the Lord to complete His promise of choosing a husband for her.
I remember the Prophetic Word that was given to Mary from Sandy Powell at our Women’s Retreat, March 2002. I remember the Gold Dust that the Holy Spirit released while Mary was sharing her testimony. The presence of the Holy Spirit was thick in the room as she spoke.
If there ever was a truly modern-day Proverbs 31 woman it would be Mary. Proverbs 31:10 states Who can find a virtuous wife?
V.11: The heart of her husband safely trusts in her.
Mary is that virtuous woman in Proverbs and as I have observed, her husband safely trusts in her. He cannot speak of Mary without honoring her in every way.
Mary knows what it’s like to be single and knows what it’s like to be married. She lives what she has written. One may call her a walking epistle read of all men.
The advice Mary is giving to all women is not a clanging symbol or a sounding brass. In other words, she’s not just making noises, she has lived her advice that is to let God choose your mate and trust Him to do just that.
With all this said, I might add that Mary is one of the kindest and most loving persons that I know. When you read her book it will testify of this.

Encouragement and Wisdom
For The Single Woman
Introduction
What About My Husband, Lord?
Encouragement and Wisdom For The Single Woman
When a single woman asks the Lord, What about my husband?
she is saying, Who is he? Where is he? When is he coming? And why isn’t he here yet?
God is the one who made you with a natural desire to have a husband and a family, and He is willing and able to choose just the right mate and bring him to you in His perfect timing.
God wants to be your match-maker! What About My Husband, Lord? Encouragement and Wisdom For The Single Woman addresses what you need to know and do (and not do) to receive all that God has for you in this area.
God took me on an amazing journey that started with the discovery that He was willing to be my match-maker and ended with a trip down the aisle to become one with my God-chosen husband, Joe. The lessons I learned through this faith walk, I gratefully share in these pages. God is faithful and He understands our weaknesses. He is always ready to give us the encouragement and strength to believe Him as we put our lives in His hands, so He can do whatever is needed to meet those God given desires. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, but He is also your Abba – your daddy who loves you immeasurably and unconditionally. He longs for you to trust Him enough to let Him bring you, His daughter, the most perfect match into your life to be your husband and soul mate.
And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.
And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.
1 John 5:14, 15
Chapter 1
It Started With A Prayer
I was 28 years old and was enthralled with my job as a first grade teacher, but I knew I was ready to make the change. I was ready to move into my new role as a wife and a mother – something I had wanted since I was a very young girl. I had considered every adjustment that I imagined would come with this new life because I was about to make a request to God for it. Just in case the answer came next week in the form of a first date with my husband, it was important that I knew that I was really ready now. So with the realization that yes, I did want it now, I sat up in my bed, and there in the dark, made a simple request to the Lord for a husband, knowing that if I asked for one, I would have one. God heard and answered that prayer, but His sense of time is definitely not in sync with mine! Had I known the wait that was before me, I would have despaired. His ways are not our ways, but God knows best!
What I expected was that through the dating process, my husband and I would meet, fall in love and realize that we were right for each other. God had something better in mind!
The Darkness Is Defeated By Our Praise
Four years had passed since the prayer for a husband, and I was in deep pain over the break-up of a relationship that I had hoped would lead to marriage. God saw, and what He was about to do in response to my sorrow would make Him more real to me than ever before. Whether a dream or a vision, I do not know. In bed, in the dark, I could hear the powers of darkness in the hallway, laughing and gloating over my loss. They had gotten me good! I looked up and saw a small circle of light in the center of the bedroom ceiling. I knew in my heart that it was the light of the Lord. I raised my hands and praised Him with thanksgiving pouring out of my heart, that He was my shield, my refuge, my strong tower, my help in times of trouble, my deliverer, that I was more than a conqueror through Him who loves me, that He was my way-maker and my Faithful And True. And as the praise poured from my heart to Him who is Lord over all, the circle of light flooded across the ceiling and down the walls until the entire room was engulfed in light. At that instant, the powers of darkness were silenced and gone.
Two months later, while on my way to my summer school classroom, I turned on the radio in my car to listen to a Christian station for the first time, having just recently learned about the station’s existence. A song was already in progress. The first words that I heard, "Never believe what you hear in the night. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and visions of light will come flooding over you," filled the car. I would later learn that it was a song by Harvest called His Angels Are Everywhere. God had given someone a song that narrated my exact experience from two months before! I couldn’t stop crying tears of joy that God had sent me a crystal clear message that He cared deeply about my pain. For years afterward, I would share the story of that experience – a message for all that the powers of darkness cannot stay in the presence of true praise coming from His people. He had opened up my spiritual eyes, so that I could actually see what happens when we turn our eyes to Him, and ignore the circumstances which may be fact, and choose to speak the truth, His Word, which will change the facts to line up with the
