I have to believe there’s some other life force out there. I don’t know in what form. But we can’t have all these galaxies and universes without something going on.

    Foreword

God has gifted my daughter Tiffani with the ability to communicate through the written word. And oh what a gift it is! This is Tiffani’s 3rd re-write of The Forgotten World: Jade, the first book in her Precious gems productions Book series. The first version was written when she was in middle school. She completed her manuscript as a Sophomore in Bridgewater College.

As she completed each chapter, Tiffani would read it to me. I sat quietly either in my bed or on the couch in the family room with no distractions from the TV, radio, computer or phones, eyes closed – listening for a vision.

Her writing is so intricately descriptive that I was able to visualize what she was reading to me. Each character is described so vividly that they become colorfully alive! The action-packed chapters leave you longing to hear/read the next one, and the next, and the next.

Tiffani always had an insatiable desire for reading. We would go to the library when she was younger and she would get ten to fifteen books and would have them read within the week. When she buys books she reads them within a day. What an awesome hobby to have.

Now, she is writing books with the same passion that she has for reading them. In her journal she already has formulated over 50 books! We the readers are in for a season of treats from her.

So Tiffani Monique Martin, my daughter, God’s gift to me, your dad and your brother, keep living Psalm 37:3-4, .³ Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. ⁴ Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

God bless you, - Love Mom

    Preface

I remember when I was in elementary school writing this book except it included the Grim Reaper and hot wings. I had an odd obsession with the Grim Reaper when I was younger that’s why my first write had him in it. The next re-write was in seventh grade that’s when the idea of parallel dimensions fascinated me. The final re-write was this one this time using the internet for information. Never would I have thought that my book would come this far. Thank you God for my gift of writing, and special thanks to my mom, Jacqueline Martin, for getting me through this and making sure I followed it to the end, dad, Brian Martin, for providing funding, Brian Martin Jr., my brother, for being my hero, my family and my editors Betsey and Jim Haynes.

    Introduction

In a dimension forgotten by earth, a large throne sat in the middle of an electronic room. It pulsated, sparkling, blue beating like a heart. The room was busy with creatures clicking away on their keyboards, not paying attention to anyone else accept themselves. A horned creature paced back and forth trying to grasp the situation. He paused and glanced up at his master that sat on the large thrown. His master was like his father in such a way, if it was not for his height he would have mixed them up. The young master sat snobbishly on his thrown, which was almost too big for him.

He watched his servant pace without a word until he became annoyed. Are you done worrying, Haid? Because if you are, I would like to move on. The horned creature immediately snapped out of it and returned to his young master’s side. He pushed a glossy red button on the arm of the throne that opened a circular section in the middle of the floor. The floor spat out a blank globe of thousands of thin metal sheets squeezed together tightly. The globe flashed repeatedly until an image swirled around it. A girl, about fourteen years old, trotted through a park, moody. She plopped on a bench surrounded by various trees and flower bushes. Her eyes glided across the tall buildings that created a fake sunrise and continually talked to herself while holding her gaze.

The young master rested his chin in the palm of his hand and smiled at the image. It’s her. There’s no lie, he said. Haid shook his head in disbelief then whispered to him, It’s a girl, though.

His master frowned at his comment. It doesn’t matter, Haid. Deal with it. Another creature swayed side to side getting his attention. She smirked and mocked Haid’s attitude.

Haid grunted and spat words at her in their own language. I for one like the idea that it’s a girl, she said sticking her tongue out. Yes. It doesn’t matter what gender it is. What matters is that it’s here and we’ll soon meet her face to face. She batted her eye lashes flattered at his response.

The horned creature groaned and glared at her. "Don’t we have something for the skin stealer? Like a job that keeps her mouth shut. She rolled her eyes at Haid yet she waited for an answer from her master. It would make me happy if my most loyal skin stealer would come up with an idea to get close to her. Already done my dear. But I can’t tell you it’s a surprise," she said putting her index finger to her lips. They all stared at the image with different intentions. It will be a hard road for that kid Haid thought to himself. But there’s no other way to go.

    Chapter 1

    At the Edge

Today was the big day. The day that my family would finally move and give up the house that I’d learned to love and cherish over the years. The house that will never be mine ever again. We will forever keep it a memory in our hearts. I remember my mother crying and father holding her tight in his arms trying to bring comfort to her. But the comfort didn’t come for me. I contemplated the situation trying to grab hold of it but it was gone before I knew it. My father shook his head at the big stack of bills lying on the table. With the jobs they had it was impossible for them to pay. But life moves on for everybody. We don’t have time to sit and think about the situation, moving day has come and it’s time to leave for my mother’s sister’s house or mini-mansion I called it.

It was a bright morning as I sat there trying not to reflect on the situation. My aunt’s mini-mansion was very big compared to my house but the only problem with the house is my aunt. She has this issue with throwing random parties all the time and having frequent visits from the cops for disturbing the peace. My aunt, unfortunately, missed out on a lot of her life. Her family was poor so they moved around a lot, like we do now, so she never had a childhood. She was also the smartest in our family and was immediately sent off to college after high school. And, yes, she did lose her mind. She barely passed college and became a sales marketing person making a lot of money and also traveled the world. Long story short, she got pregnant while marketing in Great Britain and had my cousin Samuel: The president of OCD kingdom.

As I think about some guy walks up right in front of me and sighs. Derrick? I said popping my head up. His mouth twisted into a plastered smile as he sat down beside me. He’s a very handsome boy with a light brown afro that needed to be either cut down or braided back. He reminds me of sixteen year old Jaden Smith but more bulkier and wider. Derrick and I are best friends and will always be best friends even after the move. His pretty brown eyes were full of sorrow making my stomach churn a little.

We sat there on a bench in the park located outside of sin city looking up at the sky with nothing to say. Finally, after several endless minutes, he spoke. Angie, are you leaving me? I nodded in response. But don’t worry. Someday I’ll come back and I’ll be all rich and pretty. Then I’ll buy a big suit for the both of us. Derrick grinned and pulled me close to his chest and kissed my forehead. Pinky promise me? I hooked my own pinky around his getting teary eyed while doing it. Yeah. I’ll see you again, I said sniffling.

In a sudden move, he took hold of my shoulders and pushed me up, making me meet eye to eye with him. Then he loosened his grip and shoved one hand in his pocket revealing a beautiful necklace. A jade stone sat in the middle of it and pink flowers encircled it on the gold crest that held it in place. It seemed to glow and pulse as if it were alive. I was entranced by it.

Is this for me? I said in amazement. Duh, that’s why I took it out! He said. I wiped the rest of the tears away and gave him the biggest smile ever. He grinned back showing me his pearly whites. He leaned forward and clasped the necklace around my neck. When the necklace rested on my chest it sighed with satisfaction, or was that me?

I got it from a pawn shop. I was just browsing through and I saw this necklace and it reminded me of you, he said slightly blushing. It was very mesmerizing. When I went up to the shop owner to buy it he said something about ‘you’ll need it for later tasks’ and he just gave it to me.

After his speech I gave him a long and hard hug savoring the last moment with my best friend. Goodbye Derrick, I said pulling out of the hug. His face darkened with sorrow and something more. Goodbye Angie. I ran away from the sight not wanting him to see the tears cascading down my face.

When I arrived back at the house my parents were already packing the bags and shoving the older kids inside the car. I had two brothers the age of eighteen and nineteen and two twin sisters age sixteen. They’re all leeches sucking all of the remainder of our money away. The twins wanted phones and the boys wanted a PS3 and all the other game systems in the world. For some reason I act older than all of them put together, maybe because I am older than them, inside. They act like little kids and, even though my parents won’t admit it, it’s their fault we went under. It made me angry and upset. They needed to be kicked out considering our problem.

My mom was young and spunky as ever. Her hair was like mine, curly and dark brown. Her skin is caramel colored and her face is rounded and perky. I have everything else but her face. I have my dad’s face and his lengthy body no curves at all making me the least desirable freshmen girl in high school. My sisters joke and say that I won’t hit puberty until I’m twenty-one. I totally agreed with them. The only reason why I don’t get picked on is because teenagers in my high school are either trying to get hooked up with my sisters or, on the girl’s side, trying to be their best friend. If I wasn’t catching up to their well developed figure now then I wasn’t going to be at all. My two older brothers were both well built and air heads. Griffin, the eldest, had his hair cut down almost to nothing and wore baggy jeans completed with a plain
