    DEDICATION

    •   First, to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, God’s Son: thank you for your blood on Calvary, for by your stripes we are healed.

    •   To you, the reader: may this book increase your faith in God, encourage you, and help you to know there is hope and to place your trust in God!

    •   To my husband, Bob, who refused to accept any medical reports and always said TJ was going to be fine!

    •   To Latonya, my precious daughter who was my stronghold by never allowing her emotions to show, and that gave me strength; whose act like it was nothing attitude to whatever came up gave me strength; a good sister to her brother.

    •   To my baby boy Kevin, who stood by his brother doing all he could to help him.

    •   To Mrs. Eunice Miles, my spiritual mother whom God placed in my life—our lives—sent from the beginning when we sat behind you in church for years and never knew how God ordained you to be my mother. You walked with me daily. Love you.

    •   Sister Becky, our long-distance prayer warrior . . . thank God for you.

    •   Our dear mother, Agnes Kirksey—my family belongs to you. You were there from the beginning of it all. You watched God deliver over and over through your prayers of intercession. Thank God for you. Trevis is your son.

    •   Dwayne and Hazel Hood—when we met at LWCC, we never knew our kids would bond so much. God placed you in our lives for such a time as this. When Trevis started playing the drums at Children’s Church at a young age, you all accepted him as your son. Thank you for always being there for my family. We love you all!

    •   Darrell and Elta Wilson—you were there when I needed a friend and as parents you understood. Thank you.

    •   My sister-in-law Doris and Don Moore in Los Angeles—thank you for supporting us long distance with calls, research, and your concern for your nephew.

    •   My family, Mama, Bobby, Hattie, Sylvia, Uncle Tib, Nita, Freda, Doby, Alonzo, Ann, and Madear Parker—thanks for your support.

    •   Last but not least, our Bishop Levy and Pastor Delia R. Knox, our shepherds—we would not have known and lived mustard seed faith or known how to live in the lifestyle of the Kingdom of God if you had not taught us. You did teach us, Bishop, in the early nineties about the Kingdom of God over and over, and now we bear witness of living in abundance. I have those cassette tapes of your teaching of the Kingdom of God as a lifestyle. We were new Christians then, but as you taught over and over, it resonated in our spirits, and we grew in the word and deed. We thank God for you, Bishop. Pastor Delia—such a prayer warrior and songstress, you open our hearts to evolve the music that was settled deep within us. Thank you for always thinking of me and my son, as you know what our daily routine must have been. Thank you for being such a strong person who gave us the willpower to accept God’s will. We love you all.

    •   Living Word Christian Center Intercessory Team and Ministerial Team—you prayed us through.

To Trevis, my son: this is your story. All my notes are from the journals. For all the things you may not remember—remember your faith in God. I thank God for allowing me to be your mother. I have learned mustard seed faith through you. All proceeds from this book belong to you for those years you lost in college and to advance the Kingdom of God. May you excel in education and your destiny in the Kingdom of God.

    FOREWORD

Finish This for Me: His Story

The spiritual books to read are written by those who have been there and done it. I have known Debra Parker since 1990, and throughout the years, I have observed her walk of faith and at times stood with her; her son, Trevis; and their family in the face of seemingly impossible situations. Debra’s purpose in her book, Finish This for Me: His Story, is clearly to encourage one’s faith in God; she can draw on her amazing experience of God’s Word and Spirit at work in her life to fulfill this objective.

You are about to embark upon a journey of faith written out of a life that reflects perseverance, backed by a powerful testimony of God’s grace and faithfulness. It will encourage your faith and challenge you to trust God where in times past you may have failed to do so. This, then, will have a positive effect on your walk of faith. Encouragement builds faith, and challenges enlarge one’s faith.

As you read Finish this for Me: His Story, you will benefit from the author’s experience of one who has learned how to overcome life challenges, to hold on to God in the face of great difficulties, and as a result to experience Christ’s victory through His finished work. As her Bishop, I know you will come away from reading this book inspired to finish your course with joy. Remember, without faith it is impossible to please God!

    INTRODUCTION

The soothing waves and rough currents of the Gulf Coast of Mobile, Alabama mimics my family as our seventeen year old son Trevis journeys through hills, mountains, and valleys over two years. He became ill at the age of ten diagnosed with symptoms of JRA (Juevenille Rheumatiod Arthritis), but the data of SLE (System Lupus Erythematosus) which was very rare for a child. He was under the care of a Pediatric Rheumatologist which there was only one between Jacksonville, Florida and New Orleans, Louisiana.

Our home setting includes my husband Bob, Trevis, Kevin (our youngest son age ten), our dashund Joey, and myself (Debra). Bob is a railroad inspector and an usher at church, I am a Registered Nurse and a member on the Praise Team at church, Trevis plays the drums for the youth Praise team and Kevin a typical ten year old who rather watch cartoons or play videos all day that do any other activities. Our mothers Frances (my mother) and Magnolia (Bob’s mother) are our immediate family especially since both are widows. On my weekends off, we all go on Saturday outings to Destin or Gulf Shores, or dinner after church to Pensacola or Bioloxi usually riding along the coast to view the scenic waters. Our mothers talk soo much during our drive they
