About this ebook
thoughts during different phases of my life. Some poems are dedicated to
"special" people and others, to the valuable lessons I've learned over the years.
NJ Brooks
Neila J. Brooks was born in 1945, in Muskogee Oklahoma to Paul and Mattie Brooks. She has lived most of her life in Colorado, spending her formative years in Craig Colorado. The gift of storytelling runs deep in her blood. Her mother, Mattie was known to submit her writings to various magazine and publications in the 1960's. Mattie's dream was to become a writer. As a single mother of four children, Ms. Brooks would often use stories to entertain, educate and sometimes, terrify her children with late night tales of ill-mannered children. Neila’s relationship with art has spanned over 5 decades ranging from wax sculpting, ceramics, greeting cards, "dot art" to knitting just to name a few. Authoring and illustrating books for her grand and great grandchildren have become family treasures. In this phase of life, Ms. Brooks is satisfying a long time dream of publishing a selection of her poems. Her words are delightful and heartfelt. Her aim is to open her heart and mind for ones enjoyment and hopefully to offer inspiration to anyone who might have the same passion to share a bit of them selves with the world.
