About this ebook

The novel opens with great pace and vitality with a murder almost on the opening page and the action never flags from this point onwards, with dramatic incide,

The whole book is dramatic, utterly compelling work. The author wastes no time at all in drawing the reader into the open, exiting and often dangerous world of murder and suspence without pause for breath, making this work a genuine page turner and, ultimately, a book which is very hard to put down.

DEADLY SCAR is an exhilarating book in many ways. Not only does the reader travel with Darren and Adrian on their adventures, experiencing all they experience, but there is also the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings, to understand what they think, and why they think it, and, more importantly, why they act the way they do. In this way we get a rare insight into how to fathom the criminal mind.

Of great importance in this book is the relationship between these two quite different protagonists. What is also striking and essential ingredient in any work which is going to be published and, most importantly, sold to the relevant reading audience is extremely impressive opening which the author not following dramatic incident in rapid succession, all interspread with Adrian's love interest and a brief snap shot of his past personal life................

    The Author

I would like to dedicate this book to my late wife QUDSIA ISHRAT whose love and care for me and her keen interest in my literary work was always and still is an inspiration for me. May God bless her soul, amin.

    murder of a famous businessman

It was the month of June, the weather was warm but pleasant and the location was a detached house with a big garden which had been kept tidy. Darren, the famous detective Inspector and Adrian, a detective sergeant lived in that house. They were both young and both of them were unmarried. Darren Holt was serious by nature but Adrian Reid was an extrovert type and interested in having a company of young women. But, they were both dedicated in their work, which was, solving serious crimes.

The city was having a wave of murders but the mysteries were becoming a headache for the police in general and in particular for these two because they had been unable to find any clues which might lead them to the murderer (s).

They both finished eating their lunch and retired to their rooms. Suddenly the door bell rang, Adrian looked out of his bedroom window and shouted,

You idiot! don’t you know it is siesta time and people can be relaxing. You do not have such a peace in your life but at least let others enjoy it.

In the meantime, Darren opened the door and greeted Nigel Clarke,

    Hello Nigel, come in.

Sorry to disturb you sir, but a dead body has been found not far from here and I thought… .

By that time Adrian was also walking towards them.

Dead body! where? And who is the dead person?

I don’t know, I am only the messenger but the location is a flat in Becton street.

They all jumped in the car and Darren drove to the location which was not very far from their house.

When they arrived there, they found Dr Ali Zuberi there. Police had already cordoned the area. The dead body was lying on a wasteland behind the flat.

Darren, Adrian and Dr Zuberi walked towards the dead body and Darren asked Dr Zuberi who found the body?

someone from the neighbourhood who was walking his dog. Replied Dr Zuberi.

And where is this person now? asked Darren.

He is inside the flat sir, I asked him to wait until you came.

Thank you Dr. Darren said while bending over the body and asked the doctor,

How long do you think he has been dead?

I would say approximately three hours. Replied the doctor.

Darren carefully searched the pockets of the jacket which the dead person was wearing and while doing this he found a scar on the neck of the dead body. Darren found some identification in one of the pockets.

The identification showed that the body was of a wealthy businessman called Mr Harold Baker. He lived here on his own. His wife and children were living somewhere else.

Adrian looked at the identification and said, well, well, well…

Do you know something about this man Adrian? Darren asked him.

Yes! He had a reputation, he was rich and liked to be in the company of young women. Lucky devil! but of course, he had money, he could buy the company of these young women, I wish I was that rich…

Darren ordered the body to be sent for a post-mortem and asked for finger prints to be taken around the flat. They all walked into the flat. Darren was going to the room where Dr Zuberi said the man who found the body was sitting but his eyes caught a glimpse of another man’s body lying behind a half shut door. Darren rushed to that room and felt his pulse.

This man is alive he shouted, Adrian! call the paramedics quick.

Adrian rang the paramedics and looked around the room which seemed to be some kind of an office with a big desk and a comfortable chair. He walked towards the desk while Darren and the pathologist went to an other room where the person who found the body was waiting. Darren approached him and apologised to him for keeping him waiting.

The man was in his mid forties. Dr Zuberi introduced Darren to the man.

Darren asked his name and address and also how and what time did he find the body.

The man told him that his name was David Helm and that he lived in the next street. He also told him that he was walking his dog when suddenly the dog ran away and then started barking. I ran after the dog and saw the dog standing near a man lying on the ground. It was 11.00a.m. I rang the police from my mobile phone
