About this ebook
Although she had no qualms about writing the book, she took too long and the Lord spoke to her while she was out training for a race, and said NOW!!! He also gave her the name of the book which is "Commissioned By God." After returning home, she immediately started writing the book, and turned in her resignation from her job the very next day.

Chapter 1
Obedience
When the Lord led me to write this book, I was reminded that I had just told a women’s class I teach at church that sometimes when the Lord speaks to us and asks us to do something, we refuse for various reasons. We may feel inadequate, we may not feel that we have the time, or we may simply not want to do it. I told them that it was a privilege and an honor to be chosen by God to do whatever He chooses for you to do. Because, He could have chosen someone else, but He chose you. Of all the people, He chose you. Therefore, you should think of it in this way. The Lord chose me, little old me; in all the world, He chose me. Then, we should open up our hearts and minds to listen as He goes about instructing us as to the way He wants us to represent Him. Whether you realize it or not, that is what you are doing. You are representing Him. He has chosen you to be His instrument. He has chosen you to be a blessing to someone.
There are various ways that the Lord may be calling on you to do His will. Once, a number of years ago when my three children were all still living at home, which is an indication of how very busy I would have been—I arrived home early from work with a number of things that needed to be done. But, within ten minutes of my arrival, the phone rang, and it was a friend who lived nearby asking me to take her to work. I normally would not have been home at that time, but the Lord apparently led her to call me because He knew that I was home. Although, I was quite excited about getting home early and all the things I could accomplish, there was no way that I could refuse her. By the time, I picked her up and drove her to work in the traffic and back, I arrived back home at my usual time. Needless to say, I was disappointed to have lost the extra time that I had been excited about obtaining, but I was aware that the Lord had used me to be a blessing to her. And, although I was disappointed, I thanked Him for using me to bless her.
You see, when we open up our hearts and mind to God and pray for Him to lead and guide us in a way that He wants us to go, He will do it. We just have to make sure that our prayers are sincere and that they are not simply rhetoric. God knows our heart, and He knows when we are sincere. Therefore, when we sincerely pray for Him to direct our path, we need to be ready for Him to do it, and to accept His will whatever it is, or we should not pray that prayer.
One other time, I was on my way home from work. We were living in a large metropolitan area at that time, and you never, but never, pick anyone up that you do not know. I saw an elderly woman walking down the street carrying a couple of bags, and she looked very tired. I suspected that she was on her way to the senior citizen apartments that were a couple of blocks away. The traffic was backed up at the light, so as I sit there I had empathy for her, and, at that time, she looked up as she was walking, and the Lord must have spoken to her because she motioned to me, requesting that I take her to the apartments I had indicated earlier. Now, the same rule that applied to me as far as not picking up any strangers, applied to her to not get in the car with any strangers, but we both were led to disregard that rule at the time. I gladly opened by door and let her in and proceeded to take her to the senior citizen apartments approximately two blocks away. Again, the Lord used me to be a blessing to her.
Sometimes, it’s the little things that we do on a daily basis that count. Our behavior, as well as our attitude toward our family members, our coworkers, our peers and neighbors, and our church family, allows the Lord to use us to be a blessing to them. We can make their day, or we can upset their day. Which one will it be?
Chapter 2
Trusting God, the Miracle Worker
Earlier in my career, I can remember deciding that I wanted another job. I was going to school part time during the day and working flexible hours at a job that was no longer giving me job satisfaction. At the time, I was a registered nurse with an associate degree, but I was working on getting a bachelor’s degree. So, I prayed for another job, but at the same time, I didn’t want it to begin until I finished the class that I was then taking, because if I got the job sooner, I wouldn’t be able to finish the class. Even though this was my prayer, I was still pretty anxious about getting another job so much until the Lord spoke to my husband, telling him to tell me to, Be still, and know that I am God
(Psalm 46:10). NKJV I was so anxious that I could not hear God trying to speak to me, so instead He had to speak to me through my husband. I was then able to settle down.
A couple of weeks later, I received a phone call on a Sunday evening from a prospective employer, who offered me a job that I hadn’t even applied for. She stated that someone had recommended me for the job. Therefore, she wanted me to come down and fill out an application as soon as possible, although the position would not be open until another month, which just happened to be when my class would be over. The person who recommended me happened to be a fellow church member, to whom I had mentioned in passing that I was looking for another job. She apparently mentioned me to someone, and the job became mine before I was aware that it even existed. And not only that, it was not available until the time that I had prayed that it would become available in order for me to finish the class. Only God could orchestrate something that miraculous.
In addition to the miraculous way that it all came together, the position happened to be contractual, on a yearly basis. It held no benefits, so the nurses who were already part of the health department did not want it. But, since I was covered under my husband’s insurance plan, it was not an issue with me. The fact that it was not a permanent position was of some concern, however. But I felt that, considering the way it all came about, it would all work out. Romans 8:28 states, And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God.
As it turned out, after being there less than a month, one of the permanent nurses put in her resignation. I immediately put in for her position. Now this was a more sought-out position because it was permanent, and it
