Glowing praise to The Light
For the grace to soar
The strength to strive
And the knowledge to be me
My gratitude streams
As an infinite ocean,
For the sacrificial strides
Of dad, Dr. Johnson S. Alao
The timeless encouragement
Of mum, Mrs. Serah A. Alao
And the edifying words
Of my sister, Ms. Idumaese U. Alao
My heart pours appreciations
Like red roses falling from white clouds
For the mentoring ink
Of Professor Zaynab Alkali,
The scrutiny and constructive advice
Of Dr. Shittu Okunade,
And the red ink and white chalk lines
Of my teachers
And for the prayers and wishes of my friends;
The glowing crystals of essence
Your prints are indelible in my heart.
‘‘Thank you’’, I love you all.
Foreword
This is a recommendable collection of poems from a person so young, Master Osieka O. Alao. The wisdom found in his poetry, which deals with a variety of themes, goes beyond his age. He, indeed, with a sensitivity only known to talented artists, takes the reader into his own world.
The reader will find the work both entertaining and illuminating. Master Osieka O. Alao has evident potentials and a promising future as a great poet of his generation. The young man should be encouraged to develop his talents, for indeed in him is a great grand literary child of great poets, the like of Wole Soyinka, Gabriel Okara, J.P. Clark and Tanure Ojaide.

Some of the most prominent dual clauses are; sin versus purity, truth versus falsehood, good versus evil, love versus hatred, justice versus tyranny, ignorance versus knowledge, chaos versus peace, rebellion versus submission, and many more.
