    NEW YEAR’S DAY—NEW BEGINNINGS

    Devotional Scripture:—Exodus 12:1-2

Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, ‘This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year for you.’ (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, God has granted us the power for a new beginning. He has caused us to see another year. The Bible refers to our Lord Jesus Christ as the Beginning and the End and the First and the Last (Revelations 22:13), meaning God is a God of seasons who recognizes and utilizes beginnings and endings. The way you commence a thing greatly influences the way you complete or end that thing. It is the decisions you make at the beginning of this New Year and your willingness to follow through with those decisions with passion and decisive action, which will determine your results and effectiveness in the New Year. The Word of God says ‘We should not be deceived, because God is not mocked, for what we sow is what we reap’ (Galatians 6:7). So if we were dissatisfied with our results last year, let us determine in our hearts and take the necessary steps to change our results this year by changing our thinking, plans, and implementation. ‘Wisdom is profitable to direct’ (Ecclesiastes 10:10), and can make a difference in the way you think, plan, and execute this year. God has given you another opportunity to start anew, but what do you intend to do with it? Have a great year.

    Thought for the day:

With God there are always opportunities for new beginnings in life and in fellowship with Him. Having such opportunities is awesome, but the value we attach to these seasons, and what we do with them, is more important than the opportunity to begin afresh.

    Prayer:

O Lord, teach me to number my days this year, that I might apply my heart to wisdom, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 2ND

    THE BLOOD OF JESUS

    Devotional Scripture:—Jeremiah 31:35-36

Thus says the Lord, Who gives the sun for a light by day, the ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, Who disturbs the sea, and its waves roar (The LORD of hosts is His Name): If those ordinances depart from before Me, says the Lord, then the seed of Israel shall also cease from being a nation before Me forever. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, we are the Israel of Christ, just as the original Jews are the Israel of God. We have become sons and daughters of His kingdom by adoption through the precious blood of Jesus that was shed for the forgiveness and remission of our sins. There is a covenant of the Lord’s assurance regarding the continuity, preservation, and perpetuity of God’s people, for as the scriptures rightly state, ‘His thoughts towards us are of good and not of evil, to give us an expected end’ (Jeremiah 29:11).

    Thought for the day:

From the day of His atoning sacrifice at Calvary till the day of His eventual return for the saints, the blood of Jesus will still speak.

    Prayer:

Blood of Jesus, purge me from every sin and uncleanness, and make me rapturable, in the name of Jesus.

    JANUARY 3RD

    CHARACTER

    Devotional Scripture:—Proverbs 22:1

A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, someone has said that if you lose money, you’ve lost nothing; if you lose reputation, you’ve lost something; but, if you lose integrity, you’ve lost everything. Character is what gives efficacy to who you are and what people see and say concerning you; but integrity is building block of good character. The truth of the matter is reputation is what people think of you, but character is who you really are. You can fake your reputation, but you can never fake your character. This is why we ought to invest time and effort in developing a Godly character that is based on integrity; for the Bible says ‘We should not be deceived, for God is not mocked, that whatever we sow is what we will reap’ (Galatians 6:7). One good place to begin developing character is to ‘Present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable, to God; and to not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds’ (Romans 12:1-2).

    Thought for the day:

We are a product of our attitudes and characters. It is not what we do that determines who we become; but rather, what we’ve learned over time and who we are on the inside determine who we become, and what we do.

    Prayer:

I receive the mind of Christ for Godly character in everything I do, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 4TH

    DELIVERANCE

    Devotional Scripture:—Proverbs 21:31

The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance is of the Lord. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Brethren, God is not only able to fight His battles, but is also the fighter of our battles (2 Chronicles 20:12; 2 Chronicles 32:6-8). You may protect yourself and prepare for the enemy all you want, but victory is from the Lord. This is why Psalm 127:1-2 says, Except the Lord builds the house, those who build labor in vain, and except the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen watch in vain. So with this knowledge, we ought to ‘Trust in the Lord with all our hearts, and not lean on our own understanding, for if in all our ways we acknowledge Him, He will direct our paths’ (Proverbs 3:5-6).

    Thought for the day:

Deliverance has been made available for everyone that will take advantage of it, because Christ has paid the price and finished the work on the cross (Matthew 27:50); for where sin abounds, grace abounds much more (Romans 5:20); and in like manner, where bondage abounds, deliverance also abounds much more.

    Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we hold on to the authority of Your word, and receive deliverance regarding every situation we now face, in Jesus’ name.

    DESTINY

    Devotional Scripture:—Jeremiah 29:11-13

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, God has good thoughts towards us, which are of peace and are to establish us. This is part of the destiny package the Lord has for us. So if His thoughts towards us are for good and not evil, then He will not set out to do us evil or even tempt us with evil. James 1:13-17 confirms this fact accordingly, Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am tempted by God’; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. As we pray and seek His face earnestly, we establish intimacy with Him, and as long as that relationship is present, Jeremiah 33:3, says, We can call upon Him, and He will answer us, and show us great and mighty things, which we do not know.

    Thought for the day:

What you respect, seek, and invest in, will gravitate towards you, so the anointing you respect, you will attract.

    Prayer:

Holy Spirit, help me to seek the Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 6TH

    DILIGENCE

    Devotional Scripture:—Proverbs 10: 4-5

He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a wise son; he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, hard work and diligence are important to actualizing our covenant blessings and promises. The fact of the matter is that God will only bless what we present before Him, that is, the work of our hands. God can and has blessed us with multiple and manifold blessings (Ephesians 1:3; 2 Peter 1:2-3), but if we do not get out there, and begin to work hard with diligence, we will always fall short of God’s best for our lives.

    Thought for the day:

Diligence equates to the prudent maximization of time. How diligent are you?

    Prayer:

Father in Heaven, just as You are creative and diligent, grace us to be more like You, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 7TH

    DISCIPLINE

    Devotional Scripture:—Psalm 119:65-67

You have done many good things for me, Lord, just as You promised. I believe in Your commands; now teach me good judgment and knowledge. I used to wander off until You disciplined me; but now I closely follow Your Word. (NLT)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Brethren, God is good and His mercies endure forever (Psalm 100:5). Even when He disciplines us to better align us with His will, He still is good and His mercies endure forever. When it looks like everything and everyone is against us, and we feel alone and deserted, He is an ever present help in time of trouble (Psalm 46:1), and has promised never to leave or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). Pain, especially pain that comes from discipline is a friend of the believer, since it is a tool through which God instills integrity and character in His offspring.

    Thought for the day:

Never before has there been a need to be on the right track as now; and never before have there been opportunities to be slack or slothful as now.

    Prayer:

Holy Spirit, help me to be disciplined in all I do, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 8TH

    DISCRETION

    Devotional Scripture:—James 1:19

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, words are powerful. They are a medium for creation and a very potent weapon for destruction. The words you speak have the capacity to build up and tear down (James 3:9-10), so we must think and be led by the Holy Spirit before we speak (Isaiah 50:4A). We ought to be careful what we say, for we are the sum total of our words; for our words are partly responsible for our present state of affairs (Matthew 12:37). What we sow through words, we reap by way of the harvest of a fruitful life, or otherwise; and as God’s Word declares in Proverbs 18:21, The tongue has the power of death and life, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

    Thought for the day:

Our thinking inspires our words and our words positively or negatively impact our destiny.

    Prayer:

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, LORD, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 9TH

    DIVINE DECREES/COMMANDS

    Devotional Scripture:—Isaiah 45:11

Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel and his Maker; Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons; and concerning the work of My hands, you command Me. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, if we do not decree a thing, we are not promised that it will be established (Job 22:28), and what we do not ask for in prayer, we really do not qualify to receive (Matthew 7:7-8). The mouth has been given to us not just for meals or idle chatter, but to create the type of future we desire. This is why Matthew 12:37 declares that, By our words we will be justified and by our words we will be condemned. In the same vein, the Bible says, By faith we understand the worlds were framed by Word of God (Hebrews 11:3A). Even so we must understand we have the power to create our ideal world by the words of our mouths. When our declarations are based on the written Word of God, they are potent and result oriented, and cannot return unfulfilled without accomplishing the purpose for which they were spoken (Isaiah 55:11).

    Thought for the day:

Decree and it shall be established; decree to be established; decree and be established.

    Prayer:

Holy Spirit, teach us to pray like Jesus and Samuel as none of their words fell to the ground, in the name of Jesus.

    JANUARY 10TH

    DIVINE EMPOWERMENT

    Devotional Scripture:—Ephesians 3:14-19

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. (NLT)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, it is God’s will that you be empowered with inner strength through His Spirit, so Christ can make His home in your heart as you trust in Him. It is also God’s will that you become grounded in His love as you trust fully in Him. God wants you to have wisdom, understanding and revelation in the knowledge of Him (Ephesians 1:17), so you are able to comprehend the depth of His love in sending Christ to die for you. It is only then that you can be complete in Him. This is God’s will for you, but my question is, what do you desire for yourself?

    Thought for the day:

God empowers us to be effective tools for Him to reach a sinful and hopeless world. God’s compassion activates His love, and His love activates His power.

    Prayer:

Father Lord, renew and strengthen me in my inner man to be an effective tool for You, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 11TH

    DOMINION

    Devotional Scripture:—Joel 3:10

Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears; let the weak say, I am strong. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, the authority of the believer is powerful and all-encompassing. We possess both the divine mandate and the authority to rule and dominate the earth. The reason believers are not dominating the earth as they should is because they are not aware of their authority or do not know how to exercise it. Job 22:27-29 declares, You will make your prayer to Him, He will hear you, and you will pay your vows. You will declare a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways. When they cast you down, and you say, Exaltation will come! Then He will save the humble person.

    Thought for the day:

The Heavens belong to the LORD, and the earth He has given to the sons of men (Psalm 115:16).

    Prayer:

Holy Spirit, I receive grace to dominate the earth, in Jesus’ name!

    JANUARY 12TH

    DOUBT

    Devotional Scripture:—James 1:5-8

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, our scripture reading talks of ‘asking without doubting.’ It specifically advises us to ask in faith without doubt. The truth is faith pleases God, but doubt displeases Him; for the Bible says ‘Without faith it is impossible to please Him’ (Hebrews 11:6A). The Bible continues in Hebrews 11:6B that ‘He that comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He rewards those who earnestly seek of Him.’ Doubt says the very opposite, for when we doubt we question the integrity of a God who cannot lie, and His ability to deliver or perform what He has said He will do. God’s Word states in Numbers 23:19, that, God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? The fact is that faith is not only a ‘NOW’ thing (Hebrews 11:1A), but should also be unconditional, because conditions point to the existence of doubt. The Bible in Romans 14:22-23 states as follows, So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But the man who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

    Thought for the day:

Faith and doubt are statements of belief. Faith says I believe even though I have not seen, while doubt says I need to see to believe.

    Prayer:

Father Lord, grant me faith to take You at Your word, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 13TH

    EXCELLENCE

    Devotional Scripture:—Proverbs 22:29

Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men. (AMP)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Brethren, excellence has a voice that no employer, business prospect, or breakthrough opportunity can say no to. We can determine within us to change our results by carefully considering the way we’ve been doing things; and taking time to research, plan, prepare, and commiting our ways and endeavors to the LORD, as we passionately execute our plans. Then shall we reap favorable results like never before, for what we sow is what we reap (Galatians 6:7).

    Thought for the day:

Every manufacturer’s seal is a testament to the quality and durability of the product being promoted.

    Prayer:

I receive the spirit of diligence to excel in all my endeavors, in Jesus’ name!

    JANUARY 14TH

    FAITH

    Devotional Scripture:—Psalm 23:1

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (KJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

As we meditate on this verse of scripture, I see the Lord making lack a thing of the past in our lives and families; for as the scriptures rightly point out, ‘The young lions may suffer lack and hunger, but those that trust in the Lord shall not lack any good thing (Psalm 34:10). Beloved, there is a spiritual location for the believer, far beyond lack, and the key to assessing that location is getting a revelation of Jehovah Jireh (Genesis 22:1-14), Who is the LORD our Provider. As we study and meditate on relevant scriptures, and apply those scriptures to our lives in faith, we will reap the full benefits of relying on the good Shepherd (Isaiah 40:10-11). The Bible says that By faith the elders obtained a good testimony (Hebrews 11:2), and reveals that Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that comes to Him, must believe that He is, and is a ‘rewarder’ of them that diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6).

    Thought for the day:

Faith may be blind to the physical eyes, but sees and connects with God supernaturally.

    Prayer:

Father, strengthen my faith in Your word, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 15TH

    FAMILY

    Devotional Scripture:—Genesis 18:16-19

Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way. And the Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, God was willing to reveal to Abraham eternal secrets, which had not been previously revealed to any mortal man, on account of his impeccable records and credentials as a diligent and faithful family man. The Bible reports that one of the main reasons the Lord considered Abraham for this honor was the fact that Abraham would instruct his children and entire family in the way of the Lord. The Lord instructed Israel in Deuteronomy 6:6-7, And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. From the foregoing, we can tell the Lord is particular about parents and elders in the family passing on information and instruction as it concerns His laws and ways. The Bible confirms the fact that God wants Christian values and Godly information passed down generational lines in Joel 1:3, which states, Tell your children about it, let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.

    Thought for the day:

Someone has said If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.

    Prayer:

Father Lord, anoint me with the wisdom, patience and love to be the ideal family man/woman, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 16TH

    FAVOR

    Devotional Scripture:—Isaiah 46:11

Calling a bird of prey from the east, the man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, the above scripture is letting us know that if the LORD has to compel favor and breakthrough for you from a far country, He is able to do it, because Psalm 102:13 states, that He will arise and have mercy on you, for the time to favor you, yes the set time has come. Men are one of God’s most effective instruments of blessing, so if you cannot get along with men, you may have problems with favor and ultimately your harvest; and this may be why the Bible says, Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no one will see God (Hebrews 12:14). The Scriptures further emphasize this in Romans 12:18, which states that, If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. And because this is the appointed time for you, my prayer agreement with you today is that you begin to experience uncommon favor with God and man, since 1 Thessalonians 5:24 says, Faithful is He who has called you, and He also will do it.

    Thought for the day:

Favor is a function of God’s mercy and grace, so begin to position yourself aright in Him.

    Prayer:

Lord Jesus, surround me with Your favor like a shield, in Jesus’ name.

    JANUARY 17TH

    FEAR

    Devotional Scripture:—Psalm 27:1-3

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this will I be confident. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, our Bible reading for today speaks about fear. It lets us know that when the Lord is our light and salvation, we do not need to fear. While the fear of God which translates to reverence for Him is good, fear which is a negative emotion that has a paralyzing and crippling effect on its victims is bad. This type of fear does not originate from God, for the Word of God clearly states that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). In fact the Bible reveals in Hebrews 2:14-15, that, Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. So Christ came to free us who through the fear of death were all our lifetime in bondage. The concluding lines of our Bible reading for the day makes us understand that no matter what afflictions or unpleasant experiences we go through, we ought to have faith and not fear, because God is the strength of our lives.

    Thought for the day:

Faith is not necessarily the absence of fear, but the victory of faith (1 John 5:4).

    Prayer:

Holy Spirit, help me to live a lifestyle of faith, and not fear, in Jesus’ name.

    FEAR OF THE LORD/REVERENCE

    Devotional Scripture:—Psalm 19:7-11

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, the Bible says The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Psalm 110:10). This fear is not an intimidating fear, but a reverential fear for God. God does not force or coerce us to fear Him, but allows us to choose whether or not to fear and obey Him. The fear of the LORD is so important because it is central to our living according to God’s will and accessing God’s blessings for our lives. Our obedience to the LORD flows naturally from our fear of Him, for as the Lord Jesus says in His word, If you love Me you will keep My commandments (John 14:15).

    Thought for the day:

Put on the Fear of God as a cloak at all times, and His glory and might will always be available for your favor and protection.

    Prayer:

O LORD, as I fear You, anoint me with the spirit of wisdom, in Jesus’ name.

    FELLOWSHIP

    Devotional Scripture:—Psalm 122:1

I was glad when they said to me, Let us go into the house of the LORD." (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Brethren, God’s house is described as The pillar and the ground of truth (1 Timothy 3:14-15). This is why the Bible admonishes us not to forsake the assembly of the brethren (Hebrews 10:25), for where two or three are gathered, the Lord is in their midst (Matthew 18:20). The scriptures declare that In His presence there’s fullness of joy, at His right hand there are pleasures forever (Psalm 16:11B). We are carriers of the Holy Spirit because He resides in us, so we can experience God’s presence anywhere we sincerely seek His face; but one sure place where we can experience His presence is in the house of God.

    Thought for the day:

The Lord inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3), so as you live a lifestyle of praise and worship, you will never lack His presence.

    Prayer:

Holy Spirit, purge me of everything that is not God-Compliant, in Jesus’ name.

    GOD’S FAITHFULNESS

    Devotional Scripture:—Psalm 44:4-8

You are my King, O God; Command victories for Jacob. Through You we will push down our enemies; Through Your Name we will trample those who rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, nor shall my sword save me. But You have saved us from our enemies, and have put to shame those who hated us. In God we boast all day long, and praise Your name forever. (NKJV)

    Commentary/Meditation:

Beloved, God is our help, a very present help in time of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Even though the mountains be moved or we face diverse challenges, God’s Faithfulness never fails. One thing we can always count on is His loving-kindness and faithfulness. You may be going through an overwhelming situation presently and really do not know where help or deliverance will come from. I want to encourage you that God is faithful and knows all about your situation. If you will only put your trust in Him, He will definitely come through for you (1 Peter 5:7; Psalm 55:22).

    Thought for the day:

    Let’s continually give thanks
