    Introduction

    I am about half way across the bridge of the most difficult journey of my adult life to date. However, it is making me strong and at times it is very liberating. The image of this bridge came to me when I started writing again and has stayed with me.

    Most of these pieces were written in my twenties, I am now in my mid forties and I found some written as early as age seven. I also discovered when going through my old diaries that I had marked all the poems that I thought of as worthwhile, so I could find them easily. I believe I did this because I hoped, though I have no recollection of articulating it to myself, to publishing them some
