Foreword

Nuggets of Truth sure lives up to its name. Bro. Samuel Manus has gathered, from his many years of ministry, a great collection of thoughts for us to ponder. Each one is a mini-sermon in its own right. If you were to just take one thought each day that is presented in this handheld, book-sized goldmine, you would see yourself moving from one glory to another.

From the beginning to the end, you will discover that each nugget is filled with the spirit of life. With each topic, you will feel a sense of refreshment and encouragement as you think on these things.

During his years of ministry as a pastor and missionary, Brother Manus has been a faithful witness to the Grace of God. It is evident that he not only writes of the faithfulness of God, his life has been proof of that faithfulness.

Brother Manus has been my friend for many years. I count it an honor to write this introduction to Nuggets of Truth, for I know him to be a man of integrity, one who has committed himself to the work of the Gospel.

Preface

Nuggets of Truth—a compilation of thoughts revealing the steadfast love and abounding grace of Jesus Christ. Each topic brings an illuminating new experience, and it will reveal the character and grace of the Lord.

The Word of the Lord presented will challenge one to think and meditate on the ability of the awesome Christ.

These nuggets can be read as a daily devotion or as a thought of the day. The truth will uplift, inspire, admonish, and bring hope each day.

Start the day with time set aside for reading and meditating on positive thoughts. God’s thought are always good toward us. Many people are discouraged, since their thoughts are always negative. Nuggets of Truth will lift our spirit and point out how we may better serve the Lord with all diligence.

A golden nugget is worth much money today. The Word of God is more precious to those who care to seek it.

Thinking on the Word

We have so often heard, The idle mind is the devil’s workshop. We realize when we are troubled in our thoughts that there cannot be a genuine manifestation of peace. It is the responsibility of those who know Christ to take control of what is happening in their thoughts.

Our soul consists of our mind, emotions, and will. These areas of our lives must come under the control and submission to the Holy Spirit dwelling inside the believer. God restores the soul through the power of His Word. Our spirit has been reconciled to God through the blood of Jesus Christ, but our soul must be restored through the mighty work of the Word of God in us. This is the reason we need to read the Word, meditate on the Word, pray the Word, and talk the Word. We are changed as we speak and think on the Word of the Lord.

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ—I Peter 1:13.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour—I Peter 5:8 (King James Version).

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you—I Peter 5:10 (KJV).

It is important to be sober and vigilant. We must be aware of what is going on around us—and, more, importantly, of what is controlling and happening within us. We must fill our minds with His Word. His Word declares He has made us more than conquerors.

Let us think on the goodness and kindness of the Lord. Think on the things that are lovely and of a good report. Don’t be a bearer of bad news. Be one who will stand in the Word of His Righteousness.

Look for someone to whom you can share the good things of God! Have a positive report about your friends. The things that may be wrong in a person’s life make sure you carry them to the Lord in Prayer. Pray for one another.

Good Ground

We are instructed by the Word of God to yield our bodies to the Spirit of God and not to yield to the fleshly
