He is the author or editor of six books and numerous peer-reviewed essays and chapters on topics including the representation of cities, writing and empire, postwar British fiction, Jack London, and Robert Louis Stevenson. He coedited and contributed to the volume Angela Carter: New Critical Readings (2012).
