    Jean Shim (MSW)

Completeness in Christ is focused on becoming totally dependent on Jesus Christ. It is designated as a tool to assist with the daily steps taken towards striving for perfection in spiritual growth.

Jean Shim resides in New York. She is a Social Work graduate from Stony Brook University. She is married, the mother of four daughters and eight grandchildren.

Proverbs 3: 5, 6; Trust in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not unto thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

    Preface

I had given my life to Christ, and for many years I was struggling to be all that my spiritual leaders and everyone else expected me to be. I was praying, and trusting in God, but somehow there were things in my life that just were not changing. Eventually I became frustrated, because I had the desire to be all I could be for Christ, but yet there was a very big blockage standing in my way. With determination to win this battle, I became honest with God and myself about the situation. God dealt with me at a level that opened my spiritual eyes, and I was led by the Holy Spirit towards the pathway that Christ expected me to walk. All Christ wanted me to do was to be completely dependent on Him; and to give Him full control of my life.

I became obedient; it meant making changes in my life. I could not share with others what I was going through, so making the changes caused breakage in relationships, but I was determine to be obedient to the Holy Spirit. I know that there is still work that have to be done, but I thank My Lord and Savior for where He has brought me, and where He is taking me. Every day there is an opportunity for me to take a step closer to Christ, and I look forward to taking those little steps, which will be rewarding in due time.

For many years I have been diagnosed with arthritis, and am blessed to have received medical care, which included two orthoscopic surgeries in my left knee, the final one being in 2009. Things had escalated so much with my knee that I needed to have a total left knee replacement. The operation was successful, but the recovery was not what I had anticipated it to be. I was compliant, but the pain, swelling and discomfort was unbearable; and eventually I went back to surgery for a revision.

Many times I felt like wallowing in my pain and sorrow, but during this time, I developed a special relationship with God; a relationship which took me to higher heights, and took me to another level of being obedient to the Holy Spirit. My recuperating period took months, and during those months I was renewed in my spirit.

God works in mysterious ways and when He needs our attention, He gets it. Sometimes we are very busy, and have no time to slow down, and listen to the still small voice speaking to us. We are even at times too busy doing the things we believe God wants us to do, and just would not listen, but God have methods to get our attention, and so, He got mine. During the months that I was recuperating, God refreshed me, and took me to a new and higher level.

My course of completeness in Christ is a daily routine, and each day there are steps to be taken. In this book I will share some steps, and I pray that as you read this book, you will let God direct your steps, and you will be more advanced in your spiritual growth.
