About this ebook
The sun highlights the ocean,
Separating the shades of green
From the deep and the sandbars,
Reflections sparkling across the breakers.
I move closer,
Hands moving slowly.
A soft moan,
Eyes still closed,
A soft smile crosses your lips.
You know I am here
Dan Rizzo
The raw emotions that often accompany love have the potential to not only wrap us in unbridled happiness, but also leave us defenseless against the heartache that can sometimes occur when we willingly give our hearts to others.
In a collection of contemporary poems, Dan Rizzo shares in-depth reflections that explore many of the feelings related to love and the pain of broken promises. From mesmerizing emerald eyes to a passionate love that binds two souls forever to forbidden inner-thoughts that overshadow a dinner conversation, Rizzo takes others down a joyful, sometimes sorrow-filled path where he subtly encourages others to persevere through heartache to find the one thing we all crave most in life: true love.
Matters of the Heart and Soul shares poems created from one mans journey through love, loss, and the belief that one day, his soul mate will find him.
Dan Rizzo
Dan Rizzo currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is his first book of poetry.

Matters of the Heart and Soul - Dan Rizzo
Three Special Roses
Being in love with you
Is such a wonderful feeling.
I treasure each moment
We have together
And wait with anticipation
For our next
Special moment.
Love is so beautiful.
Love is romance.
Love makes me see
The beauty that surrounds me.
Your love
And my love for you
Are captured in the
Peacefulness of a
Walk on the beach,
Love under the stars,
A candlelit dinner,
Dancing till sunrise,
The simple beauty
Of a rose.
I love the image of a red rose.
It speaks to
Pure romance,
The essence of love,
Just like the love
I have for you.
I give you
Three special roses,
Three roses red,
So you will know
How special you are
And what our love
Really means to me.
One rose
Stands tall in the center—
So proud,
So beautiful—
Because this rose
Is the love rose,
My love rose for you.
My love for you
Does not stand alone.
What we share
Is more than
Just one rose of love.
The love rose
Always has by its side
Two roses in kind,
So precious, so pretty,
And equally as beautiful.
These are the roses
Of trust and friendship.
My love for you
Is not complete
Without the trust
That binds us together
And gives us the strength
To be open, to share,
To be vulnerable,
Without fear
That we give
Without risk
Of rejection.
The rose of friendship
Is so important to our love.
It is so much a part
Of what makes
Our love work
And what makes us complete.
It is important
That we are
More than lovers.
We are more than a couple
With stardust in our eyes;
We are best friends.
The rose of friendship
Is yours because
You make me feel safe.
You protect me
And help comfort me.
You are there for me
In the good times
And when life
Is not going so well.
You are my best friend,
The one I come to
When I am blue;
The one I come to
To share my happiness.
You are my first thought
Whenever I have something
To share.
I come to you never afraid
To say what I feel
Because you will
Always be there for me,
No matter what.
These three special roses
I give to you, my dear.
The beauty of the rose
Reminds me always
Of the beauty
Your love gives to me
Each and every time
You are near me
And touch my soul.
Three special roses
May come to you
On any day
At any time,
Without a reason.
They come only
To remind you
How beautiful you are
And what your
Love means to me.
Think of me always.
Girlfriends
A woman needs friends
To care for her,
Comfort her,
Pick her up when she is down.
To fill a special need,
A woman needs girlfriends.
I have a life partner,
The one I love.
He gives me joy—I love him so.
He is my everything!
I give him my all;
In fact, he is my best friend.
We can share, we can talk,
We can be open, and we can cry,
But no matter how complete he makes me,
There is still a need he cannot provide.
He cannot be a girlfriend.
The closeness and friendship
I share with my partner,
No matter how
