    CANCER—PART I

    INTRODUCTION

On 12/30/07 I felt a lump on my left collar bone. I was a little concerned and that night during my devotions I read these verses And when this mortal has put on immortality, then shall the written word be fulfilled, Death is swallowed up in victory. Death, where is your victory? Death where is your sting? I Corinthians 15: 54-55. I found comfort in these verses, but there was a part of me that went Yikes!"

1/3/08 I went to the doctor’s and was immediately asked if cancer ran in my family.

This book comprises the letters to my prayer partners. I already had been in contact with them to pray for the marriage counseling I was going through with my husband who had left me two years previously. That was an enormous valley in my life, but I am continually amazed at the strength, love, lessons and even joy that can be found in the valleys.

    CARRIE’S NEW REQUEST

    1/4/08

    Hi everyone!

Well, since I have you all set up on my nifty computer as prayer partners, I’m going to throw another request at you. I have two lumps on my lymph nodes and something in my chest (info. thanks to a CT scan I had yesterday). I am going in for outpatient surgery Monday or Tuesday to get a biopsy. I think the prayer request is obvious—Hey, where did those lumps go? Hum, nothing here but a healthy body. We’ll see. I’ll be sure to keep you posted as soon as I know anything!

God bless you, guys!! I love you!!

    Carrie

He who believes in me will live… and… will never die.

    John 11: 25-26

    That’s a beautiful thing!

    THE DIAGNOSIS

    1/9/08

    Howdy!

Well, it’s Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Which, I want to point out, is one of the more curable forms of cancer. So the new prayer request is that it is in an early stage. I’ll be finding out soon as well as starting on chemotherapy in the next few days. Tomorrow I have a PET scan, and I’ll be meeting with the oncologist soon. Fun, fun, fun!!

I must say, your prayers are being answered. I feel little to no anxiety (it’s that peace that surpasses all understanding). Pray for J.T. and Max as they get to face more stuff in their lives. Also, for my parents who have been an ENORMOUS help!

Thank you, dear friends, for your prayers!!

    Blessings,

    Carrie

    Don’t worry about anything;

    Instead, pray about everything.

    Tell God what you need,

And thank him for all he has done.

If you do this, you will experience God’s peace…

    Philippians 4: 6-7

    ANOTHER REQUEST

    1/13/08

    Hello everyone!!

I can’t express how overwhelmed I am by your love and support. You all are amazing!!

I met with the oncologist on Friday and I really liked him. He was very up front with how I will be feeling for the next six months. Basically, he said to just write off 2008. However, he also said next year I will be healthy, my hair will be growing back, and I will have a new appreciation of life. Gotta love that!!

I am going in for a bone marrow biopsy on Tuesday, and on Wednesday the doctor will tell me what stage my cancer is in. I will probably be starting chemotherapy next week.

I will keep you informed as to how I’m doing. Again, I am overwhelmed by your prayers and support!! I dearly love you guys!!

    Love and blessings,

    Carrie

This I declare of the Lord:

    He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;

He is my God, and I am trusting Him.

    GOOD NEWS

    1/16/08

    Hi Everyone!!

Thank you, thank you for your prayers! My cancer is in stage 2 (better than 3 or 4), and I may only have
