About this ebook
Ainsley Carter
I was born on February 6 on the beautiful Island of Barbados, where I grew up in the parish of St. George. I attained my academic education at the Workman’s primary school. Then after, the common entrance examination I proceeded onto the Lodge School. Growing up in Barbados was great for me, and after leaving school, I chose my career path in mental health nursing, which had been a great stepping-stone for me. Like everything else in this world encompassed many struggles and challenges, some of which left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, but nonetheless, here I am today. Obstacles are always put in front of us to test our limits. I remember every year when it came to having an appraisal the ward managers would always give me great comments. As a matter of fact, almost 100 percent in everything from attire, personality, to carrying out my work; but in the end, they would always put that damper on: “Not yet ready for training”; therefore, I was kept back from progressing further and would sit back and watch others come way after me and would get to do their training. However, after working in the drug rehabilitation unit, my then ward manager (group therapist) saw my potential and backed me to go on my training (six years after starting work). I was also able to attend drug seminars abroad, which helped me in my field of work. After completing my RMN studies, I left Barbados behind along with a few more friends to further my career in the United Kingdom in September 2000. It was here I found my passion and love for poetry and writing short stories. Many days I would write and jot things down whenever I feel lonely, sad, or missing family and friends; and these words that I had etched on paper became my story as they had detailed my life in some way or another. Over the years, I met a lot of friends here, and some I allowed to peek at some of my work and most would tell me how beautiful my writing was and encourage me to publish a book, which I eventually did in September 2010, my first masterpiece called Poetry a Way of Life. Working in this field of psychiatry, which deals with the mind, enabled me to understand people and life much better and to actually come face-to-face with struggles and reasons why people do the things that they do in life; hence came the idea for my second book A Journey into the Abyss of the Mind. It comprises of poems and a few short erotic stories to help ease the tension of any reader. My website is www.ainsleymcarter.co.uk. My LinkedIn: http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/ainsley-carter/50/b26/840. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
My first book called ‘Poetry a way of Life’, has been the foundation and drive for me in completion of my second book.
My strength which pushed me onward came from God, Edmund Bradshaw (dad) R.I.P, Francine Carter (mum), Shurla Carter (sister), Jeron Carter (son), Sharon Bailey, poetic friends Carolyn ‘Empresspoetry’ Layne (Author of Impressions of a Poet), Robert Gibson, Kathy Elliot (motivation speaker and author of many books), upcoming Artist Shanika Thompson, Amanda Jones aka (Divinity Lace), Raylene Harris, Tammi Browne-Bannister, Cheryl Corbin, Kim N Nurse, Sean Rayside aka (Certified Snipa), Brantley Hunte, Hayden Shepherd, Christopher Carter, Gregory Hinds, David Griffith, Marsha Gill, Sandra Applewhaite, Adriana Alana Marion Walkes aka (Alana Slimz) and Franklyn Parris CEO and founder of www.Bajansunonline.com. Franklyn would always try to push me to continue my writing and has been allowing me to have space on his site to showcase and promote my work. I would also like to thank all my friends on facebook who would constantly push me and give great positive feedback and criticism about my work, without your input it would mean nothing.
Everyone has allowed me through positive and negatives to follow my dreams and make them into a reality today and I will continue to give to each and everyone more than what they expect of me and I will do this honestly and cheerfully.
My favourite quote: Never laugh at anyone’s dream: People who don’t have dreams don’t have much.
