About this ebook

The Father says to us come...

Can you envision Him sitting in a beautiful garden, in the cool of the morning? The birds are singing, the sun is beginning to peek up over the horizon, and the morning haze is lifting. You can hear the sounds of a rippling brook in the background, you walk into the clearing, and there He is patting the place next to Him as He beckons you to come sit with me awhile.

    INTRODUCTION

Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place, and I will give you rest. – Mark 6:31a (NIV)

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

T HE FATHER SAYS to us come…

Can you envision him sitting in a beautiful garden, in the cool of the morning? The birds are singing, the sun is beginning to peak up over the horizon and the morning haze is lifting. You can hear the sounds of a rippling brook in the background, you walk into the clearing and there He is … patting the place next to him as he beckons you to come… sit with me awhile.

I was in a Bible study and we were encouraged to make a Praise Book to God. I thought and prayed about how I could accomplish that task. He ignited my heart and this devotional is a result of the moments that I shared with my Father in his quietness.

It has always been difficult for me to express myself. It seems the words never come out the way I want them to. I’ve always felt a little like Moses when he said…

O Lord I’m just not a good speaker. I’ve never been and I am not now, even after you have spoken to me. I’m clumsy with words.Exodus 4:10 (NLT)

My paraphrase would sound something like this… I’m only a High School graduate, a country girl, scared out of my wits. Are you sure about this? Do you know what you’re asking?

God never makes mistakes. He can take an awkward little girl and make her into a vessel he can use. If he can do that with me, he can do that with you. He just wants us to be willing.

He may not ask you to write a book, or speak in front of people, but he does have a place for you to fill in his plan, and the only way you can find out what that is … Is to spend time with him. Ask him to ignite your heart with what he has in mind for you. It’s not about ability, it’s about availability.

My prayer is that you will be encouraged, refreshed, and blessed as you sit with the Father In His Quietness.

    LET ALL CREATION PRAISE

    The heavens declare His majesty

    The mountains echo His praise

The rivers roar with His power and strength

The rocks shout forth His name.

The sun kisses the morning dew

The moon praises Him from on high

He knows when a Robin falls from its nest

How much more does He love you and I?

So Praise Him creatures great and small

Praise Him creatures one and all

    Because our God created all

    To Praise His holy name.

    LET ALL CREATION PRAISE

May my lips overflow with praise…– Psalms 119:171a (NIV)

Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded and they were created. – Psalms 148:3-5 (NIV)

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. – Psalms 150:6(NIV)

With singing lips my mouth will praise you

    Psalms 63:5a (NIV)

I WANT TO GIVE you something to think about today…

Did you wake up praising him? Was He the first thought on your mind? While you were still lying in your bed, did you thank him for the new day and ask him what he wanted you to do today? We can’t even count how many thoughts turn toward us. And when we awake in the morning he is still thinking about us. What a gracious and loving Father we have!

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

    Psalms139:17-18(NIV)

We have so much to praise him for! But so often the only time we praise him is when everything is going great. Are you still going to praise him when…?

You don’t have the money to make your house payment or utilities. You’ve just found out that your child is involved in drugs. You’ve been diagnosed with a terminal illness. All your dreams have shattered…

Praise is healing. It takes our thoughts off of ourselves, and directs them toward him.

Start by listening to music that lifts your heart. Read scriptures of praise. Take a walk and enjoy His beautiful

Creation and listen to the birds praising him. Call a friend, write a note or go do something nice for someone. It may not change your circumstances, but it will change how you look at them.

I Praise you Father that you are my…

Comfort, peace, joy, sustainer, refresher, song of songs, anchor, salvation, my all in all. I Praise you… that you go before me, and have already been where I am going; you’ve always been and always will be.

Remember he’s listening! He wants to hear your praise.

COME MAKE MY HEART YOUR HOME

Come make my heart your home, Lord Jesus

Come make my heart your home.

    Enter each room…

And the things that you see

    Are not pleasing to Thee,

    Take them Lord Jesus,

    And set me free.

    O, the sweet communion

    And fellowship sweet

When you come into my heart

    Cleanse and make it complete.
