Matthew Cosgrove

Matthew Cosgrove was born and still lives in the Ottawa valley in central Canada. He spent the first part of his life working as an independent artisan where he developed his practical approach to Spirituality and Shamanism. Be ginning his Spiritual practice at age 16 quickly opened him up to his multidimensionality, and over a 3-year period, be-ginning at age 30 he underwent a profound Spiritual trans-formation and began to receive the vision on which this book is based. This vision, and the pragmatic approach of his Shamanic practice have allowed him to adapt this ancient healing modality to identify, and effectively treat the fragmentation of the self. This fragmentation, which he calls The Sub-division of the Kingdom, caused by the false identification with ego mind is what he sees as the real impediment to wellness facing us today. His non-academic writing style speaks directly from experience. His words speak directly into, and awaken the heart of the reader, enticing them to embrace their inherent gifts that are described in this book. In 1987 he and his wife founded the Bioenergetic Institute and later Earth Based Healing, both dedicated to the practice, teaching, and research of Shamanism. A Celtic Shaman’s Guide to Unity

    Introduction

    Shamanism

S hamanism is the oldest medicine known to man. The Shaman is not limited to perceiving reality from only the physical dimension, but simultaneously, views all life as being part of a greater whole.

They experience the physical world to be only a reflection of the spiritual. Physical illness is understood as an outward manifestation of inward spiritual malaise or misalignment. From this vantage point, illness is addressed at the non-material level. They have thus successfully treated, not only the symptoms of illness, but have cured it from the level of causation.

Shamans, many not even in human form, have been, and still are, the keepers of the Earth, and through their alliances with one another, honor and hold the balance in nature, and in the Spiritual worlds through prayer and ceremony.

Shamans today continue to fulfill these functions mentioned, but in today’s society, saturated with countless brands of energy healing modalities, our unique role as healers seems to be emerging from our ability to perceive and to treat fragmentation or subdivision.

In the past, prior to the Millennium, these gifted people who were able to see into, and correct imbalances in the invisible worlds of Spirit have been called Shaman. In the raising frequency of the New Earth this gifted person becomes you. This book explains, how seeing is a natural by-product of raising our frequency, and provides you with a guide as you go through, what can be, this very tumultuous process.

The Artisan of the New Earth is one who is able to first create unity and sovereignty within the self by healing subdivision, and then becomes able to craft a new paradigm of unity outside of the self; the divine marriage.

Chapter 1., The Subdivision Of the Kingdom explains the importance of wholeness, presence and non-identification with ego.

Chapter 2., Prayer and Ceremony dismantles false assumptions about what God is, and aligns you with what could potentially be for you, as an Artisan of the New Earth, a new way of creating your own life, and a new world through self-responsibility.

Chapter 3., The Five Tools of the Shaman are not yet more techniques, but are ways in which to enter, decode, and navigate this rich and potent inner landscape from which becomes possible this type of work. They do this by awakening into your conscious awareness what is already there, inherent in you. The five tools, and all the teachings in this book, can be used to enhance any kind of healing modality. Because they deepen insight into the nature of how we perceive and create our reality, they can taste like essential food to anyone on a spiritual path, or to any student of life. They provide the insight from which one can develop their own vision into the Spirit world.

Chapter 4., The Five Tools of the Shaman as a path to Enlightenment draws on ancient Vedic teachings to give you a visual map of subdivision; the descent into the illusion of the ego mind, and unification; the process of ascension to true clarity and unity.

Chapter 5., Encounters In Parallel Worlds demonstrates the potentials of reclaiming the multidimensionality that the Artisan can access through the mastering of The Five Tools of the Shaman. These are astounding but true accounts of encounters and interactions with Spirit beings in parallel worlds. These are worlds that surround us but that we are unaware of until we raise our frequency.

Chapter 6., The Divine Marriage shows how the true masterpiece of The Artisan of the New Earth will be the crafting of the new paradigm of God as the male and female energy aligned in the heart.

Although this has usually been associated with indigenous cultures, both my wife and I are like the Shamans in the past who were born with the gift of sight. I will describe this later, but the ability to perceive our multidimensionality had been opened to us at young ages, and consistent with shamanic traditions; we both received a calling from Spirit to do the healing and teaching work that we are presently involved with. Because of this, we have been able to recognize that many of our clients are on the threshold of awakening to their own gifts and perceptions beyond the physical world. A lifetime’s experience as Shamans has uniquely positioned us to perceive what is happening on a soul level during their process, and to know full well the pitfalls and the challenges facing them. As our work has been shifting from healing to teaching, in order to provide those now awakening with a guide into this unknown world, I have written this book.

Perhaps in the raising frequency of the New Earth these kinds of titles will change, but, as I have said n the past the artisans of the formative invisible worlds have been called the Shaman. Because of this, as a starting point, I draw on the teachings of cross-cultural shamanic traditions, and use the word Artisan and Shaman interchangeably throughout the book. Thus when I use the word Shaman or Artisan I refer to someone who is now awakening, a process that is described in the companion book to this one, The Altar of the Initiate as the Sixth Direction. When I use the word we I am usually referring to my wife and I who share close to the same perspective and vision of these invisible worlds.

There are two kinds of knowledge, academic knowledge, like the sciences we learn in school, and then there is transcendental knowledge. Transcendental knowledge cannot really be understood as we would academic knowledge, because it has to be experienced. For example, transcendental knowledge can be received when reading and being moved by a great poem. We are moved not by the words themselves, but because the place of inspiration and truth that the poet is coming from is somehow being awakened in us. Our soul then understands something beyond the words, as the knowledge transcends beyond the filters of the rational mind.

Much has been written on Shamanism in recent years, but it has mostly been from an academic point of view. This kind of study is valuable and informative but it is only information about Shamanism, usually based on an outsider’s observations and speaking from a past tense about how indigenous Shaman were. It is not possible to encapsulate the vastness of the Shamanic world inside of academic teachings. It is not what we don’t know, but what we do know that veils us from experiencing this timeless reality not separate from us. Although it is accepted as such, information of this kind is far from transcendental knowledge, so I invite you to listen with openness of heart to the words in this book as to allow you to soar high above the safe and limiting concepts of the mind. It is only here that we can understand the richness and totality of your potential as an Artisan of the New Earth.

This book offers an alternative for anyone ready to leap from the safety of what is accepted to be reality, into the vastness of the unknown. It is an insider’s story. It is for anyone ready to take that first step or step further into this unseen and magical world.

In Shamanism, as in the New Earth, there is no need for an intermediary between you and the Spirit realm. We, as Artisans now have our own direct link. This also gives us our own unique vision, so we can see different parts of the same big picture. For example, you can have different descriptions of Montreal according to which direction you approach it from. If you arrive from the south, you describe having to pass over bridges, from the north, nothing but industries and so on. This book is writing directly from my own unique way of perceiving the whole.

In choosing to use the word Celtic in the title of this book, I am referring to the sacred place of inspiration (or folk soul), which I draw from, rather than a known direct lineage of a Celtic Shamanic tradition. To me, no doubt, they have been drawn from this same source.

The teachings do not reflect any particular tradition, but are written from a lifetime of experience in this field.

    Chapter 1.

The Unity of the Kingdom and the Nature of Subdivision

I n order to give you an understanding of what subdivision is, I will start by describing what it is within the human structure.

    Soul and Spirit

Spirit is the eternal part of our selves, it is light, it moves fast and is detached. It is a vibration with qualities of luminosity and omnipresence.

Soul is the individualized part of the whole, or part of God, which retains experience from one life to the next, growing and expanding, on its journey back home to Spirit.

Like the first early astronomers, who, through observation, realized that the earth was not the centre that the sun rotated around, but in fact it was the reverse, the enlightened Shaman has a rather different perspective of soul than the western view. Western thought has told us that if it even exists, the Soul resides in the body. This same belief, that has at different times confined it to being in the head, other times in the heart centre, has led us to think that when we die, the soul departs and the body collapses. The Shaman perceives that the converse
