    Dian Shirley began collecting children’s books for her classroom, later realizing that they were actually for her own enjoyment. Children’s books, she discovered, have messages for kids of any age. As a teacher, she often uses these books to develop concepts in all areas of the curriculum. Since retiring from a career in teaching, like Misha she continues to follow her heart by engaging in her love of writing. As a life-long learner, Dian takes writing classes and writes personal essays, memoir and poetry. Her grandchildren inspire many of her stories. Passionate about body mind spirit integration, Dian is certified by The Chopra Center to teach Primordial Sound Meditation, Yoga and Ayurveda to both children and adults. Dian loves to be outdoors in the natural world. She can often be found walking along the river near her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with her two rescue dogs, Jake and Cassie.
