About this ebook
Do you want to know who a true Christian is? Are you craving to live as God wants you to live your life here on this earth? Do you want to know how to become a Christian? Based on the vivid illustrations Jesus Christ and His Apostles gave on true Christian living, this simple book will radically transform your life for good!
In this edition, Ben Amponsah discusses the various identities of true Christians as they live their lives on earth and in times like these when the spiritual values expected of Christians are being compromised. For instance, at one point in the Bible, Jesus Christ identified His followers as being "Salt of the Earth". In another place, the Apostle Paul identified Christians as being "Living Sacrifices". What are these identities to you? You will be challenged to examine your life in the light of these identities from God's word as you go through the pages.

Dedication
This book is dedicated to my beloved wife Veronica and our children, Akua and Abena.
Preface
This book comprises a very simple thought-provoking, heart-to-heart talk designed for sober reflection by all levels of Christians and non-Christians alike.
During His ministry on earth, Jesus Christ used natural things to illustrate spiritual truths. The apostles did the same thing in their writings.
In this book, I have attempted to comment on some of the identities of a Christian for sober reflection and meditation. The lessons are easy to read and grasp.
The book will serve as a mirror as you go through its pages prayerfully and examine yourself in the light of the messages. Most of the quotations are from the King James Bible Red Lettered¹. Quotations from versions other than KJV are indicated. For easy understanding, I have provided some words with synonyms in parenthesis.
May the Holy Spirit help you to grasp the truths as you go through the pages in the light of God’s Word.
Acknowledgement
My special thanks to Rev (Dr) Yaw Adu Gyamfi for his valuable suggestions. Thanks also go to my family, especially my two children, Akua and Abena, as well as Deacon Abraham Sarfo for assisting me to get the manuscript ready.
Chapter One
You Are a Child of God
87706335.jpgBut as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.
—John 1:12
This verse indicates that one becomes a child of God by believing in Jesus Christ.
To believe in Christ means to accept Him as your personal saviour and Lord. Hence, if you have received the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, then you are a child of God!
Every child has to enjoy the full benefits children are supposed to receive from their parents. They must receive love, security, affection, and material needs from them. As His child, God has to love and protect you and supply all your needs. God, the Father, is obliged to supply all your needs [physiological, psychological, spiritual, material or physical, and emotional] according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus
(Phil. 4:19). The only thing you have to do is to go to Him in prayer with your needs. In return, your Father in heaven, God, requires that you become obedient to Him, and do His will.
Friend, are you enjoying the full benefits of a child from God, your heavenly Father?
Let me dare ask you this question: Are you a child of God? If not, then all that I am talking about is meaningless and unprofitable to you. It must be emphasised here that not all those who profess to be children of God or Christians are God’s children. Some people go to church and call themselves Christians but do not obey the Word of God. These individuals are just churchgoers and not Christians. No wonder Jesus Christ warned, Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in Heaven [author’s emphasis]
(Matt. 7:21). So if you claim to be a child of God, you must do His will. And you can’t do His will unless you are born again into God’s family!
Listen: Jesus answered and said to him [Nicodemus, a religious leader]), ‘Verily, verily I say to you, Except a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’
(John 3:3). You have to receive a new nature from God (see 1 John 3:9; 2 Cor. 5:17; Eph. 2:10). This godly nature would allow you to do the will of God. It is a spiritual nature given to you from heaven, fashioned according to God’s nature!
Being born again into the family of God automatically makes you God’s child: But as many as received Him, to them gave HE power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name
(John 1:12).
Maybe at this point you are wondering how you can be born again? It is very simple.
1. You have to accept that you are a sinner
Romans 3:23 and 6:23 declare, For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord
. You are a sinner. Your sinful nature was inherited from Adam in the Garden of Eden when he sinned against God. That is why you need to be born again from above to receive a new Christ-like nature capable of overcoming sin. Jesus is the last Adam sent by God to deliver us from the sinful nature we inherited from the first Adam. (See 1 Cor. 15:21-22, 45-50).
2. Repent and confess your sins to God for forgiveness
For if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
(1 John 1:9). You can’t remember and confess every sin committed since time immemorial! Once you have accepted that you are a sinner, the only prayer you could offer is God be merciful to me a sinner. I repent from all my sins from today onwards. Forgive me for living a sinful, selfish life without you. If after this prayer you feel there are any specific sins that you want to confess, feel free to pour out your heart to God. If you sincerely pray this prayer from your heart, God would surely forgive you as He has promised in His Word. Now, if there is any person that you know that you have wronged in the past and who is within your reach, you could offer restitution. You could go to them and say sorry. If there is anything you have in your possession that is not yours, you could return it to the rightful owner if it is possible to do so. Again, don’t feel intimidated if it is not possible to do these things. Be happy that God has forgiven all your sins!
3. Believe that Jesus died in your
