Introduction
I grew up in Lagos, Nigeria; a city that has been estimated as the fastest growing city in Africa and the seventh fastest growing city in the world. With a population of about 17.5 million, Lagos is growing ten times faster than New York or Los Angeles and if this growth rate continues, the UN estimates that Lagos will become the third largest metropolis in the world by 2015, just behind Tokyo in Japan and Bombay in India.
For me, the fascinating thing about growing up in Lagos is not the fact it is a mega city and the commercial hub of Nigeria, neither is it the fact that it is one of the fastest growing cities in the world, but as a child, it was quite fascinating to see churches spring up in every nook and cranny of the city. I grew up living on a small street that had about twenty houses, three churches and a mosque!
We didn’t need an alarm clock to wake us up in the morning, because as early as 5:30 am, you would hear someone’s voice from the horn loudspeakers ushering people into prayers, more like a call to worship
.
If you have ever been to Lagos, Nigeria, or any other part of Africa, you will agree with me that Africans are a very religious set of people, with Nigerians topping the list. Almost every street in Lagos has a church! Yet the impact of these churches is not being felt in the society or seen in the lives of the people.
On Sunday morning, you would see hundreds of thousands of Christians trooping to their various local assemblies and while it’s true that a great percentage of them are Born again, Spirit filled, tongue—talking and Heaven bound; most Christians are still struggling to make ends meet. Yes they have been saved and have escaped eternal condemnation in Hell, but majority of them are still going through "Hell" here on earth.
God’s children are broke, busted and disgusted. While some are struggling with their finances, others are struggling with their health, career, family, relationship, businesses, academics and churches. It seems as if the more religious
, churchy
and prayerful
a people are, the poorer they become!
This trend is not only restricted to the Christian from the local church in Lagos alone, but somehow, the impact of the church is not being felt in our world today. The church which was designed to be a counter culture of the society is now being seen as a sub culture of the society. Instead of taking the center stage and playing a major role in determining the destiny of nations and peoples, the church has been relegated to the side lines. Church leaders and pastors haven’t helped us either; most of what they have taught us from their pulpits has been the fact that as Christians, we aren’t meant to be rich, successful, happy, fulfilled, healthy, well dressed and ambitious, because Jesus is coming back soon! All we needed to do was get born again, take up our cross and try to live a "righteous" life by trying to live by a set of Do’s and Don’ts. So in our today, we see a lot of Christians who are being manipulated by the devil and his system because they are yet to discover who they are in Christ and until you discover who you are, you are prone to being manipulated.
Adam was manipulated in the Garden of Eden because he was ignorant of his identity. He was created for a purpose—to be fruitful, to multiply, to replenish the earth, to subdue it, and to have dominion. He was created not as a sub culture of the society, but as the main stay of the society. He was created to dominate his world with the principles of God’s kingdom, but Adam being deceived lost his crown and authority to the devil and this is what Jesus came to restore unto us.
Jesus died in order for us to have eternal life and abundant life. He died so that we can reign on earth as kings of the earth.
We are not ordinary church people
, neither have we been called to live an ordinary life, rather we have been born to reign in this world as kings of the earth.
The father created us to be kings, but the disobedience of Adam robbed us of our crowns.
Through the death and resurrection of Christ, we have been redeemed and restored to our position as kings.
Today, the Holy Spirit empowers us to reign in life as kings of the earth.
It is my desire that the words in this book will stir up something on your inside that will cause you to take advantage of all that God has to offer you through the death and resurrection of His Son.
You were born to Reign as kings of the earth!

Born to reign
We will never be able to appreciate God’s solution to man’s problem until we are able to understand man’s problems. Therefore in order for us to understand the person of Jesus, and to appreciate what he did for us by dying on the cross of Calvary, we need to know the kind of person Adam was before he sinned against God.

Genesis 1:27 (The Living Bible)
God made Adam in his image and likeness. In other words, Adam was made to look like papa God, and to function exactly like him. And this was the way Adam functioned before the fall. God made him responsible for taking care of the Garden
