We need a revival of great love poetry again says Giovanna. I guess I am a hopeless romantic with my moon being in Venus I believe that our sun and moon signs play a significant role in our lives.

    This book is a unique book of poetry, as it is a quintessential array of poetry from the heart; thus came the title Etchings of the heart

    Giovanna said my friends in my poetry group on writers caf and Marys Bridge, all agreed that my poems came straight from my heart and I have to agree. There are all kinds of love that I write about. There is love of family, friends, romantic love, pets, nature, and God. In all love there is beauty to be found. I also write about the paradox of love which consists of Love vs. hate or Agony and ecstasy: both sides of a fiery sword. In her poem Never was a day, Giovanna writes: for never was a day, when there was sunshine, without rain, and for love to exist without pain.

      I remember a day

      When black was black,

      And white was white,

      Now black seems blue.

      And white doesn’t seem white at all.

      Blue seems to take on a different hue,

      And nothing seems true,

      Only me and you!

      Your name is forever etched in my heart

      Your love is deeply embedded in my soul

      And ingrained in my mind

      ’Till the end of time,

      Your heart entwined with mine.

      Times have changed.

      The entire world rearranged,

      But my love will never change,

      For it is embossed in my every cell,

      And branded deep within me,

      And engraved in my heart for eternity!

      I am blinded by your beauty!

      For I beheld a glimpse of your soul,

      Portrayed by the bright light of truth,

      That is impressed in your eyes.

      A Ballerina’s Wish

      A little girl had a dream.

      She aspired to be a dancer.

      Oh how grand that would seem!

      Recalling days of old,

      Ribbons of pink and gold,

      Tambourines swirling,

      Sliding across the floor in dance,

      Imitating the moves of a swan,

      While I twirl and prance!

      A DANCE STUDIO;

      My dance instructor,

      With textured tights,

      And black shiny shoes with bows,

      Tapping one two three, for the show!

      ME A STAR… . THE SHOW;

      Preparing for the show,

      My costume, sequined all aglow,

      Mother was all night working.

      She sewed my costume.

      Thread by thread,

      Sequin by sequin,

      Toiling by candle light,

      Proud for me to be in the limelight

      My hair was of style,

      And make up new,

      Up on stage

      My confidence grew,

      Tapping my feet to the Irish Jig

      Dress of checkered green,

      With emerald, shiny sequins,

      The music begins again.

      Now we dance our ballet.

      A Hungarian song begins.

      Satin pink and green dress aglow,

      Tambourine with ribbons that flow,

      Of pink and neon green,
