About this ebook
Granny Puckerlips is no ordinary granny. Moved by conviction to do the right thing, Grannys adventures begin when her old-school upbringing meets the local street culture. Though familiar to her grandkids, Emanuel and Hanna, Granny does her best to embrace a generation much different from her own. Exploring the whacky and unique world of her new homie friends, Granny shows kindness and respect toward others even when uncomfortable. Where Granny goes, whacky and outrageous things begin to happen, but Granny always reminds us of good manners and her timeless values.

Since the ER experience, the stories have grown into wild and whacky tales filled with outrageous, teachable moments and unusual characters. The story of Granny Puckerlips is the product of real-life experiences, some embellishments, and a lot of fun growing the legend of Granny P. in book form. Granny Puckerlips: Keepin’ It Real with Kindness and Respect is Rick’s first book.

To Emanuel and Hanna
Thanks for your ideas, imagination, and love for all things outrageous, whacky, and wild. You are the real gift!
Preface
Sometimes circumstances lead us into strange and unfamiliar places we haven’t planned on visiting. Though we are seldom comfortable moving into new places, or going beyond the familiar, it is these seasons that launch us to a far more abundant life.
Writing Granny was not on my main road, but the unfamiliar path has proven to be an adventure worth every uncertain twist and turn. I hope Granny’s spirit of keepin’ it real inspires others to do the right thing, live outside the box, and always keep trying.
CHAPPY 1
The Smeary Kiss
Quick! She’s here! Emanuel, run, Granny Puckerlips is here!
Hanna screamed.
We both raced out the back door looking for a place to get away. Peeking out from behind the shrubs, I could see Granny and Grampa Puckerlips inside the house.
Now what are we going to do? We can’t hide here for long. Mom and Dad will know we’re hiding again. This is the first place they will look,
I told Hanna.
We have to get out of here. Let’s make a run for it!
whispered Hanna.
Oh my, there you are dearies. What are you two doing behind the bushes again? Now come on out and give your Granny Puckerlips a nice hug and a smoochie.
Nice smooch! There is nothing nice about a Granny Puckerlips smooch. They are gross and stinky, I thought to myself.
Aw, Granny… it’s so nice to see you too,
I said politely while Granny gave me a bear hug that squished my guts out. I braced for the smeary kiss. Granny puckered her red lips and it was over quick. Still, it was smeary, stinky, and just like all the others.
Now let me wipe that fresh red smear off your face young man. My lipstick and make up is all over you,
remarked Granny.
No thanks, Granny. It’s okay, really. I’ll take care of it,
I pleaded. But it was too late. Granny reached into her purse and pulled out an old wadded up
