    Acknowledgments

H ow does a person say thank-you when there are so many people to acknowledge? Obviously, this book is a thank-you to God, the Creator of heaven and earth; to my family; to the body of Christ; and to my partner. The unflinching support, training, and prayers of my parents and my siblings laid the foundations for The Unseen Power . I’m blessed to be part of this great family.

Yet the personal mentorship I received from these great men of God: Bishop David Abioye, Pastor Israel Anifowoshe, Pastor and Pastor Mrs. Okunnu, and other brethren not mentioned had further established my feet in the service of Christ. My sincere thank-you goes to Mr. Paul Ajayi and Dr. Lawrence Osoba, who took time out to edit this book and to other brethren at my current place of worship. Your support is much appreciated.

The selflessness, prayer, and support I received from my beautiful wife in this great commission are not without notice. Together, we have partnered, persevered, and pursued our call to serve Jesus since the day the Lord brought us together. Thank-you, honey! I know it is not enough to know for what you are destined, but having great people who understand and support you is what brings dreams to reality. Thanks for supporting me!

    Preface

M y life was once like a man wandering in the wilderness without any sense of direction or hope for a great future. I had no premonition of who I was or if I could find meaning to my life. I was ignorant of what I’m made of, ignorant of the possibility of a great future, and more importantly, ignorant of the One who made me. I had lived my life in accordance with the standards of the world and was trapped in the success and failure of my family. I lived twenty-five years of my life with the mind-set that if you are educated, you will succeed. So I devoted most of my time to thinking about how I could acquire more education so that I wouldn’t have to be left out of the social class. After spending eighteen years acquiring a formal education, it is equivocal that education is good, because although it has exposed me to what my society expects of me and the chances I have to become somebody in society, it has failed to show me my true destiny and the path to discovering the maker of life. I know from the way I tried to make sense out of my life, and this world reflects the true picture of millions of people who hope for a way out. Something happened, however, that changed my whole life.

Years back, I had an encounter with someone I had condemned. His mission was intended to dispel the works of darkness surrounding my life, thereby unveiling the true picture for I had been longing. Through this encounter of a lifetime, the sleeping giants in me were challenged. The challenge christened the beginning of a new life beyond what my family wanted for me, what society wanted for me, and what I wanted for my life. This encounter turned out to be a great landmark in my ministerial journey. It was a raw display of God’s power, which I never imagined could be as real as narrated in the Bible. Bishop David Oyedepo has said, A day encounter with God is worth more than a life time of struggles. My life is like gold that has not been refined in order to see its beauty. Pure gold glitters through an encounter with fire, and talents are displayed in the midst of crises and challenges.

The Unseen Power begins with two different spiritual encounters that almost took the lives of the people involved. It tells how Christ miraculously restored my friend’s life from death, thus using this miracle to win my life to Him. It tells of the thirst for deliverance in the church and in the world. The Unseen Power is about to expose how the Devil distracts your mind from the true picture of your destiny. The Unseen Power makes real the unseen world, and it presents God’s way of victory for everyone. The first spiritual experience dates back to my high school days, while living with my brother, Joel. Joel was the person involved in the attack, but I witnessed the way in which the entire attack unfolded. The second spiritual experience happened to me and a close friend, Ola, during our university degree. The amazing thing about these encounters is that God showed interest in me despite my disbelief, unfaithfulness, and living in the guiltiness of my sins. This may be your experience right now, but I have come to tell you that nobody is useless in the factory of God. The Unseen Power marked the beginning of purposeful living for me, and I believe you will gain clear understanding of God’s expectations for your life as you devote your time to studying it.

Why is it important for you to know God’s plans for your life? It is because you have a future full of great plans, dreams, and aspirations (like me), and you need help before you can attain these heights. Would you agree with me that the people around you—family members, friends, colleagues, classmates, church members, and more important, the unsaved souls in your community—need help to become something they have dreamed of becoming? Would you also agree that the world is searching for solutions from the many problems besetting it (for example, poverty, unemployment, war, economic meltdown, illiteracy, hunger)? Just to mention few. You are the solution! The Unseen Power is here to help you see yourself in that picture of being the solution for which people are looking.

One day at work, I heard a colleague discussing the concept of omnipresence with a fellow staff member during their lunchtime. I got interested in their discussion, so I joined them. I said to him, Do you know who the omnipresence is? God is the omnipresence!

He looked at me from head to toe, as if I had mentioned something that provoked him. He once told me that he didn’t believe in God. Now he said, If there is God, why are animals and the innocent people killed daily?

I said to him, God will judge the innocent who are killed, not because they are victims but based on the life they lived before death came and the person who commits the murder in the same manner.

At that point, he appeared to be furious and shook his head like someone who still had many unanswered questions. He went further, with a smile, to say, Have you seen God judging anyone?

I relaxed my nerve. I looked into his eyes, and I said Yes, I have seen people who suffered for wickedness they committed against fellow humans and against God, but I know he may not agree with me because he was trying to make me see reasons why there is no God anywhere.

The entire world is become victims of the sins of the ancestors? The human race still pays for the disobedience of our fathers. There is God, and His presence is there with you now, if you recognize Him. God has answers to millions of questions that men raise daily. The answer to the next man’s prayer is in you. The way to conquer the unreached nations, as commanded by Christ, is in you.
