FOREWORD
This is an amazing book,
written by an amazing man,
to let you know how truly
amazing— both your brain—
and YOU are.
Kit Summers experienced the nightmare of a thirty-seven day coma and awakened to a brain that was damaged and a body that didn’t work right. Kit reveals how he overcame, and how you can too, in his life-changing book, Your Brain.
This is a wonderful combination of an entertaining, inspiring story wrapped in an informative, educational training manual that will help you live a better life.
As an educational psychologist since 1976 and former assistant professor at three universities, I have studied the brain/mind connection to help myself and others learn how to be more effective in the face of the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
that life throws in our path. In addition, because I was shot at point blank range by an unknown assailant with a .38 caliber bullet, I also know first-hand the truth of the sound advice contained in this book.
Although the subject of one’s brain can be complex and overwhelming, Kit’s writing is easily understood, with many valuable tips that will help you use your own miraculous brain to turn your own life into a remarkable accomplishment.
What will you find in this book?
• An inspiring record of one man’s triumph to find success—again and again.
• Easily absorbed and applied success tips—one after another.
• Pearls of wisdom based on profound experience.
• Expanded use of your brain.
• Renewed hope in yourself and the world.
Savor this read slowly. There is too much of value here to fully absorb in only one reading. As Kit himself says about getting the best out of your brain - repetition is important. Return often to these pages of wisdom at any place in the book, at any time. You will find an idea that will make your own path smoother, your burden lighter, your brain more enhanced and your life fuller.
Thank you, Kit, for making the path to greater success wider and easier for the rest of us.

PREFACE
After I went through my accident and thirty-seven day coma, I wanted to learn about my brain to be able to use it in a more enhanced way.
Lessons I learned in my recovery and my life are documented in this series of books, words that can help you reach beyond your potential.
This book is centered on learning about your brain and how to use it in a more powerful way toward your success.
Here is some of what has occurred in my past:
• I rose to great heights as a world-class juggler.
• I then went through an accident and thirty-seven day coma.
• At that point, I climbed up again with the writing and publishing of my first book, Juggling with Finesse, and starting my fresh salsa business.
• Back down I went after getting hit by a truck—the second time.
• Rose up by starting work on this series of books to help you.
• Back down when put in jail for a month on a false charge.
• Climbed up once again, traveling throughout the world to see and experience new things.
• Up-down, up-down—like on a roller-coaster.
• Join me on my roller-coaster ride as I bring your life to higher levels.
AA.JPGAfter each listed incident, my life began anew. All my previous dreams and expectations were gone or changed. The first incident I went through, the brain injury, resulted in my having to learn everything physical again, although in my mind I knew how to do the task.
My brain had changed, but my thoughts had not.
Many things can happen to our brains. Changes from strokes, tumors, and infections; and then the big one, traumatic brain injury (TBI), something I had to deal with myself—directly.
Boom—Kit goes down—TBI time.
Fortunately the hospital was within blocks, so I was rushed right in. After injury, a brain needs to be worked on as soon as possible for the best recovery.
045.jpgI have been told by a neurologist that when my head and body were hit by that truck my brain sloshed back and forth inside the skull, causing numerous areas to be damaged. (Now, doesn’t that sound scary?)
The doctor also told me that if my brain injury had happened just five years prior to when it did they would not have been able to save me. With medical breakthroughs happening all the time, they are able to save more and more people who suffer TBI and other traumatic injuries. Victims of TBI are coming back to do amazing things, through education.
Education about our brains attracted me because mine had changed so dramatically. About the size of a cantaloupe, this thing in our cranium is jam-packed with so many neurons we could keep learning forever and not use all of our brains. So, yes, you will get through your changes.
With each change we go through our neurons are also changing. With that said, the more you use your mind in an intellectual way, the better your brain will work for you.
Studying the brain and the subject of change intrigued me.
Because of all of the changes I have gone through, I knew, through each, I would have more material for this book. This positive way of thinking kept me away from depression and stress.
044.jpgSeeing the changes in a positive way kept me reaching for more. I learned that we have so much control of our mind and how we think about things.
We are the one to design our life.
To keep positive, we must think in better ways. Your brain is so intricate and can be used in ways most of us have no idea we can, until we think differently.
For myself, in going through my brain-change, I had to learn to think in a different mode. The human brain is quite a large topic; discoveries are being made all the time about how complex our brain is.
In fact, the most spectacular complex thing that is known to humans is our mind. I get surprised at how little we know about our brains.
New discoveries are made all the time showing that your brain is so intricate.
There are so many tiny cells in the brain that if each were as big as a grain of sand you could fill up a dump truck. I hope this book helps you gain knowledge about your brain and how to use it better.
The human brain is capable of storing more information
