Introduction
This collection of poetry has been in the works for several years. I’m excited that I finally made completing this collection a priority. What I learned in writing this collection is that I’m tempted to write every related poem that comes to mind as opposed to the one hundred or that I wrote. In other words, the idea of Guard Your Joy is so wide that it’s impossible to write anything that would be considered comprehensive. As usual, I have my main theme of poems, and I also have a few poems that are off the main theme, but those poems are insightful and funny. Then, I have some poems that are about protecting our young people, which is a constant theme in all my books. Friends, brothers, and sisters, please enjoy Guard Your Joy.
Ride of Faith
A Sunday morning truck ride through
the hilly countryside
Who would think that an example of
faith could not hide
Two-hour drive west in Comanche, Texas,
I saw a man excitedly holding a pretty,
blooming dark yellow mum
A beautiful, blooming plant is enticing, irresistible for
part-time gardeners, first-time homeowners,
or plant novices
Not to mention that plants in full bloom
