    Introduction

    My plan is to have this particular book be rather short and to the point in the hope that more people might be willing to pick it up and read it, especially prior to the 2012 elections. The words include my views as well as the views of so many others of you out there. Views led more by common sense and reason, which is supposed to be recognized as a gift given to us by God Himself. Let us embrace and respect that gift of free choice given to us by God, not by mankind or religion, which has been proven to stifle and dumb down the free choices their followers are warned not to question, resulting in not having free choices at all. Too often mankind and religion rob us of our gift of free choice.

    I liken myself to the Apostle Thomas for asking obvious questions that should have been asked. Thomas wasn’t there when the other apostles saw Jesus after his resurrection. Thomas was not fast to believe such a seemingly unbelievable miracle simply because he was told about it by mere men. Thomas said that unless he saw Jesus for himself and touched his wounds, he would not believe. He asked for proof. The Apostle Thomas felt the freedom to question man and to seek the truth. That does not mean he lacked faith. In my opinion, the opposite is true. Faith alone is fine. Asking questions and seeking out answers to the truth is okay too. We are actually encouraged through the Bible writings to do just that.

    Thomas just so happened to get everything he asked for and he did not drop dead. Blind faith is fine and even seems to work very well for some. It just does not work for me as it did not work for Thomas. I am a believer in God. I am a believer in Jesus Christ as Apostle Thomas clearly also was. I love to ask and seek out answers to the many questions I have. Like Thomas, I get my answers, and I don’t drop dead.

    CHAPTER ONE

    INTERPRETATION OF SCRIPTURE

    Jesus was asked which commandment was most important. Jesus’s response was,

    "The most important commandment is this;

    Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is One. Love the Lord your God with all your strength and with all your heart and with all your mind and soul. The second is this; Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these."

    (Mark 12:29-31)

    * * *

    How many professed Christians do we think really hear and discern those words, spoken by Jesus himself, that do not even include the name of Jesus within this scripture? What about the other eight commandments?

    "For he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.

    The commandments;

    Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not covet, and whatever other commandments there might be, are summed up in this one rule;

    Love your neighbor as yourself.

    Love does no harm to its neighbor.

    Therefore: Love is the fulfillment of the law."

    (Romans 13:8b-10)

    These are literal words that can be found written in every single Bible available to mankind. But do all professed Christians believe these words? Note that there is no mention of a Sabbath Law. There is no mention of Jesus Christ. The entire all-encompassing message I hear is love. What about you? What do you hear?

    "For he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.

    Therefore: Love is the fulfillment of the law."

    And this is love; that we walk in His obedience to His commands.

    As you have heard from the beginning,

    His command is that you walk in love."

    (2 John 1:6 )

    * * *

    To believe in God is to obey His command to walk in love. How can those who claim to believe responsibly interpret these words any other way?

    Jesus was asked by an expert of the law in order to test Jesus;

    Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?

    To which Jesus replied;

    "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.

    And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

    All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

    (Matthew 22:34-40)

    * * *

    Again, these are Jesus’s words. They are clear and to the point. How is it then that so many professed Christians continue to misinterpret Jesus’s own words? I suspect it has more to do with the convenience of convincing oneself it is far more important to claim belief in Jesus Christ, accepting him as one’s personal Savior, than it is to actually listen to and seriously heed his words. Much like brownnosing and kissing up to the boss—excuse
