About this ebook

Think of short stories written in poetry form. Most of them real life experiences and tributes to loved ones as well as a bit of Tortolian culture and village history.
Some written with a little Caribbean flare in order to remind us of where we came from and transport us along with our memories as far back as forty years. If you want to relive your childhood days, this is the book
If you want to know if God answers prayers, this is the book.

    Psalm 103: 1

God is due my utmost thanks for entrusting me with this gift.

It is a gift that was given to me not for me, but to pass on and share. Its purpose is to bring a smile, bring laughter and at times bring reflection to the reader.

These poems are experiences that I went through in my community, on the job and in my own life. Some are tributes to friends, family members and members of the community who have passed on. Then there are those that take the reader back into yesteryears, a place less materialistic but filled with warmth and love.

    Tis Come Yo Da Come

    pig.jpg

One day a piglet feeling bold and strong,

Said to her mother, How come your snout is so long?

Her mother looked at her and gave a little hum,

My daughter, don’t despair, tis come yo da come.

Right now you can step as high as you choose

In your four and six inch high heel shoes

But some time in the future you’ll come down to earth

Because your calf, your toes and your back will hurt.

Arthritis will frequent your hands and your knees

You may need a cane or walker; you can’t move as you please.

High blood pressure and diabetes will become everyday words

Sugar, salt and grease will be pleasures you can’t afford.

Those see thru, thinned strapped night gowns you dare not wear

You’re now covered in flannel from your toes to your ears.

You don’t want to catch any wind much less a cold:

You didn’t know this day would come when you would get old.

    Well, thongs are out of
