Endnotes
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome
them [false prophets, thoughts, ideas]
because the One who is in you is greater than
the one who is in the world. [1 Jn 4:4]
We are God’s women manifesting His power in the feminine.
"Freedom from spiritual conflicts and bondage is not a
power encounter; it’s a truth encounter."
—Dr. Neil Anderson, The Bondage Breaker
Acknowledgements
One cannot create without a vision. The vision is God’s and manifesting it in this realm took the support of many. First, I thank my Master’s Mind group, fondly referred to as my Board of Directors. Barb Wilber, Stephanie Sherwood, Sheya Chisegna, and Clare Price. Through your amazing capacity to see under the surface, the warrior in me was called forth. I cannot wrap my mind around the profound change in me possible because of your faithfulness and wisdom.
I thank Leslie Fisher, who came into my world as an assistant only to become the collaborator God knew I needed to help me pull the trigger.
We would not be here if it were not for you.
Thank you to Donna Smallenberg, the prophetic artist who has captured the essence of God’s women in her paintings. Through her extraordinary piece, Song of Deborah, She’s a Warrior and the tribes within it are portrayed definitively.
I have always had a tribe, I just didn’t realize it was a tribe. My spiritual journey has been shaped and formed by other courageous warriors. This includes Patti Ollivier, Peggy Peak Richardson, Jennifer Whitney and the best wing-woman in the world, Vicki Dahlquist. I have loved every single minute of my journey with each of you. I think of my good friend Barbara Friesen who models steadfast faith with such grace and beauty. Thank you for showing us all what it looks like.
At my core is the affection and appreciation I hold for my husband Joe, who unknowingly became the catalyst for this work. He is and has always been Jesus my cornerstone. Solid and stable, he has been the perfect mate for me. Joey, I see us going the distance together and I need you to know I am glad about that. Thank you. To my beautiful children, Christopher and Jaime, you have taken responsibility for your own journeys and set me free through your forgiveness and great love. How blessed am I?
Preface
As I re-read through this workbook I am a bit startled sometimes at the tone of it. There are places where the content seems harsh and unsympathetic, as if wives bear all the blame for the discord in their marriages. I don’t mean it to be that way. I feel like the Lord’s voice is sometimes direct, to the point and strong in His message. I love that about Him. Please know I share every Christian woman’s desire that my husband be a strong, powerful, confident ambassador warrior in the Kingdom of God. My efforts to help him have not always come across that way.
If guilt or shame rises up as you read through the book, remember these kinds of thoughts come from the enemy. In Christ, we are no longer guilty or ashamed. We are all growing toward glory…we can lay down the baseball bat and keep our eyes on the One who alone makes this life worth living. - HD
Introduction
This book came about as a result of God’s revelation to me that He intends to rewrite the current handbook for marriage and liberate each individual from the prison of religiosity and doctrinal control. Christian marriages should be a brilliant and attractive reflection of His extraordinary purpose and passion for relationship in which each individual gives freely, generously and intentionally.
Unfortunately, the divorce rate in Christian marriages tells us something is off. There are many factors that contribute to this. In this book, we focus on the spiritual assault at work to destroy marriage relationships and mar the credibility of couples who profess to believe in God. When we embrace our true identity in Christ and love the way He loves, relationships improve. When the world witnesses the behaviors and attitudes
