Curt V. Martin

Curt V. Martin was born in Montezuma Georgia, in April 1963, the son of Frank and Mary Martin both school teachers. They moved to Miami Florida in 1964. Curt was reared in a neighborhood where most of my peers were poor. His family never went hungry or lacked any necessities. His parents were very good parents, and provided a great home. In 1979 he fell in love with my wife Christine and we began a family at a very young age. He had always been a creative and caring individual who loves with all of my heart. He joined the U.S. Army and his first duty station was in Germany. Christine and their first child Catrecia joined him in Europe. In 1988, at 25-years-old he was stabbed in the lower left quadrant of his abdomen. A 3ft. Section of small intestine protruded the site of the wound. There were no hospitals in the area of Grafenwoehr, Germany where they were stationed. He was medically evacuated to Nurnberg where doctors were unsuccessful in repairing the damage to his small bowels. Christine gave birth to Selena, the 2nd daughter, at the same time of his first week of hospitalization. He was then flown to Walter Reed Army medical Center in our nation's capital, Washington D.C. He was visited by a stranger one morning and the peculiar gentleman gave him a Holy Bible. The Doctors were unable to repair the small intestine and he was too weak for another operation. He could not eat, drink, or have a bowel movement, due to this injury. After 6 months of reading the bible, God healed me miraculously without an operation, to the amazement of the specialists assigned to my care. His family and was then assigned to Fort Bragg in N.C. In 1990 their 3rd daughter Chloe was born. The same year he was deployed to the Persian Gulf conflict and fought In Operation Desert Storm. He was awarded the Bronze Star, and the Liberation of Kuwait medals for meritorious service. In 1993 he left the military and moved back to the Miami area. In 1994 Curt Jr. was born. Curt Senior began demonstrating behavior consistent with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, due to severe Combat stress. He was the senior pastor of The Holy Trinity House of prayer from 2000 - 2002. While struggling with an undiagnosed PTSD ailment, he became alcohol dependent, and a convicted felon. God has caused him to use his life as a canvas. The mixture of colors of his life served as the womb from which these tales of wisdom and spiritual bliss are born. The prayer is that you enjoy them as much as he has.

Too Smart for His Own Good

    black.jpg

The parrot made his nest at the top of the tallest tree.

He could see in every direction as far as the eye could see.

His tree was rooted on the bank of a running brook.

He fished for tasty minnows and he used his beak as his hook.

Life was good and he was happy way up there.

His peace seemed perfect and he lived without a care.

A fox came upon the running brook one day.

The parrot noticed him while he was still very far away.

The fox began to talk in his own clever way.

The parrot was curious as to what the fox might say.

He said, I’m considering going into the brook for a little swim.

Then he invited the parrot to come down from his nest and join him.

No! I am content up here in my tree top nest.

I enjoy watching foxes swim and I think that that would be best.

My stomach is aching for a swimming companion you see.

No! I think that your stomach is aching because you would like to eat me.

I saw you coming from very far away.

I do not swim so there is nothing left to say.

The fox did swim and continued to talk for quite a while.

He finally became a meal for the parrot’s friend the crocodile.

The fox was clever, yet the parrot was wise.

He was too smart for his own good,

    Therefore he met his demise

One summer night in the morning of June,

A grey wolf howled as he looked up at the full moon.

A wise old owl demanded that he silence the noise.

We shall capture more prey if we approach them with poise.

The grey wolf said, "Come down from that tree and show me the way.

Show me the truth in the words that you say."

Your wisdom is something that I desperately need.

We shall dine together and satisfy both our greed.

Wisdom declares that that’s not a good deal.

So no my friend I shall not be your meal.

The wolf began to cry and got down on his knees.

The owl said, Cry on, cry on, as much as you please.

Your great teeth shall not subdue my feathered wings.

For I’ve heard great agony in the songs of death your prey sings.

One summer night in the evening of June,

The wolf cried out, "I shall meet death soon.

I cry from my soul for I’ve hungered for so long.

Without help from the wise owl how can I go on?"

The owl gave a hoot as he captured a rat.

He touched down on the ground and said, Now here, eat that!

The moon was full and the wolf let out a great howl.

That night he ate a rat and an owl.

    The Crook

    black.jpg

Have you heard the story about the fox named Crook?

He was interviewing chickens as characters for his book.

The interviews took place in Crook the foxes den.

Only Crook came out yet several chickens had gone in.

Crook walked around with a crocodile smile.

He had been interviewing chickens for quite a long while.

The chickens never saw any pages of his book.

The chickens began to think that this fox was indeed a crook.

A meeting was held to count the chickens that were gone.

The chicken president asked the question, why is it that the fox comes out all alone?

The chickens left the meeting and had the fox on the run.

This angry group of fowl got behind him with a loaded shotgun.

A blast of buckshot, BANG! and Crooks tail was on fire.

Getting to the nearest pond was this fox’s greatest desire.

They ran ole Crook until the rising of the sun.

It’s no fun when the chickens get the gun.

Crook ate very well for many,
