About this ebook
Nazreth A. Roseberry
Nazreth A. Roseberry is a small business owner in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. He has been married for ten years and is the father of two boys. He is a member of Life Assembly Church and a key founder of TFL Ministries. Over the past six years, God has truly transformed his thoughts about football and about whom should be first in his life. He still loves football; he just understands now that Jesus Christ is number one. He grew up playing the sport in and out of season and it was easy to say that Football was his first love. Nazreth truly believes that football teaches so many life lessons. Once he gave his life over to Christ, he began to realize the parallel's of Gods word and the game of football.

THE PLAYBOOK
The%20Playbook.jpgI will instruct you and teach you in the way that you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.
Psalm 32:8 (ESV)
For a moment let’s pretend we are coaches for our favorite NFL team… mmmm, this could get interesting. Now let’s pretend that we have been given a perfect playbook that, ahead of time, tells us about the setbacks, obstacles, and victories we can have if we do certain things. This playbook also tells us the final score of the final game… would you want this book? If you had the book, would you become lazy, put forth minimal effort to perfect the plays in the playbook because you already know the outcome? Well, sometimes I wonder if that’s what happens to us as Christians. Let’s use Peyton Manning as an example. Peyton studies his opponents probably more than any other player—and maybe even more than some coaches in the entire NFL. I believe what makes him so successful is also what can empower us to be more successful as Christians. Now, go with me onto the field with Peyton right after he has successfully driven his team 80-plus yards to a touchdown. What is he doing on the sideline? Go with me again to the sideline right after Peyton’s second and third touchdowns—what is he doing? He is in his playbook, and he is studying the images of what his opponent is doing. Also, he is talking with coaches and teammates about things he can improve and do differently. I believe studying the Word of God, our playbook, is just as important during the successful times in our lives as during the challenging and painful times. I also believe that having coaches and friends in our lives is as important as study time, sometimes even more important.
Now, let’s return to the field because Peyton has just thrown a pic 6. If I asked you what he’s doing now on the sidelines, and you said, He’s in the playbook,
I would say that you are correct. Even as believers we make mistakes; and when we do, our next move should be to spend time in the playbook (The Holy Bible) and to look for guidance. We do this not in an effort to place blame or to point fingers at others, but in order to take ownership of our mistakes.
I’ve also seen Peyton on the phone while on the sidelines, and he is probably talking one on one with the offensive coordinator who is watching from the coaches’ box. From his vantage point the coordinator can see the big picture and can encourage, teach, and council Peyton on his next move. We
