    CHAPTER ONE

    Family and Friends

    Who I Am

I’m not a complicated man, but

who I am cannot be summed up in

a single definition nor could it be

    told by any one person.

My world is involved to a degree,

where it would take several pages

of a dictionary to explain or identify

    me correctly.

If you are of a closed mind nature,

and fail to see all the vibrant colors

in a rainbow, you would or could

    never understand anything about

    me in your lifetime.

My mind is focused at this world,

and all the wrong that exist in the

minds of men. The thoughts that

can enslave a whole nation, turn

    brother against brother, and cause

    death to innocent women and

    children.

My eyes see the hopelessness of

the poor and the mass genocide of

my black brothers and sisters caused

by ‘Back Alley’ chemical labs and

    white supremacist politics.

My shoulders bear the burden of lost

    promises, that were never fulfilled,

due to my people’s trust in a justice

system that wasn’t intended to help,

    but to only suppress us.

My nose smells the decade of the

black family unit, which has been

neglected for years, for it serves

    no economic purpose to "White

    Corporate America".

My heart beats out a rhythm of pain

for the plus three hundred years,

black people were forced into slavery

and slaughtered or beaten for wanting

to read or speaking of freedom.

My ears hear the cries of black

mothers, whom lost their sons to

wars. Wars fought on foreign soil,

that did nothing to improve the

quality of life in America for the

    black man.

My hands feel the arthritic pain

of black labor, which was used to build

this country, but as a people have yet

    to fully benefit from it.

My stomach has soured, for the

Negroes, who have ran into the

    White Mist losing their identities,

or those who obtain wealth and power

    but refuse to help others.

My legs are weary from the Race.

The race in which I, as a black man,

must be twice as fast, jump twice as

high as my white adversary to win the

Prize, the prize they may get in the

end, if they should decide to change the

    rules.

    Who I AM

I am first a child of God, who was

stolen from his mother land and

forced into slavery. I’m a human

being born of Kings reduced to

living like an animal with no rights,

in a land built for Free people.

I am the Consciousness that lives

in the minds of men, who have gone

against the ‘Word and Will’ of God,

in the treatment of fellow man.

I am the Black Force to be reckoned

with, for all the inhumane treatment

of my people for all these years. I am

a Black Man , who refuses to take a

back seat to anyone. I am a black man

who fears only God and no man that

walks the face of this earth.

I am the ‘One’, who is willing to fight

and die for the Right to be Totally

    Free.

    NaNa’s Little Man

    Dear Grandma NaNa,

I know this letter is late,

but I have so many things

to tell you about my life.

    I wish you could have

    been here, watching as

I grew from a child into

    manhood. I think you would
