Unlocking the Genius Within Your Child and You!

About this ebook
Parenting can be a daunting experience. Wouldnt it be nice if our children came with a How to manual? Do you ever feel that right when you are getting the hang of parenting, your child changes and you are lost all over again?
The truths in this book will not only help parents and teachers better understand their children, it will also provide them the keys to better understand themselves. One of the fundamental truths of parenting is that it offers an opportunity to experience our maker in a different format. Through watching, listening, and learning from children, I have discovered four key skills that all of us have within us. I call these skills the golden keys.

I would like to thank my writing coach Elizabeth Hagen for motivating me, believing in me, and helping me to set deadlines and keep them. I also want to thank the entire staff at Excel Achievement Center and Excel Discovery Center for working tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of the wonderful students we encounter. Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.—Albert Einstein
I want to thank you for picking up this book. By doing so, you have recognized that your child is special. You have also recognized that you would like to do all that you can to bring out his or her true genius that is embedded within. I’m excited for you and humbled that you would embrace the lessons that I have learned to assist you with your parenting, grand parenting or teaching.
I have written this book from my heart, taking lessons that I have learned from my childhood, my experiences as a parent, and my professional experiences as a teacher and owner of a learning clinic. I have been fortunate to have worked with children in a variety of ways and honored to share these experiences with you.
I truly believe all of us are born with a calling, an innate purpose to be on this planet. I remember my calling came to me as a young girl. I was about nine years old, and I remember sitting on my bed in my room, and I said out loud… I am going to be a teacher and I am going to help children realize that they matter.
And, even though I have at times taken a detour from this calling, it has been ever present within me, and I truly feel God’s light within me shines best when I am fulfilling this purpose.
I grew up the oldest of five children and found that I was very intuitive to the world around me. My mother still tells me about how I would sit and just watch people for hours. It was as though, even as a young girl, I was seeking to unlock the mystery that each of us hold within us. I found myself believing the best in everyone, as it seemed I was able to see the good in others if I just kept looking. I recall one time out on the playground when I was about eight years old. I was standing up for a girl named Suzy who others were making fun of. I kept pointing out her strengths, and I remember one of the girls in this group saying to me, Stephanie, you just can’t like everybody!
That resonated with me. I began to wonder why people were constantly looking at the flaws in others and making judgments with very little information. How could they judge Suzy, without first asking her what her intentions were?
The truths in this book have been within me since I was a child. I intuitively knew the lessons contained within these pages, and was often confused when the adults in my life did not apply them. I have, in my adult life, doubted these truths at times because others gave me different instructions or ideas
