    Today we are experiencing much environmental and natural turbulence--hurricanes, tornadoes, raging fires, as well as political upheavals in the world. Our whole beings cry out for peace. Throughout the ages, poetry has served as a calming and rallying influence during lifes turmoil.

    The poems in Under His Wings illustrate that God is our refuge, and these truths are revealed:

    A spirit-filled life is infinitely rich.
    Hope as a beacon of light propels all people to Liberty.
    Only Love can bring Peace to one and all.

    God is love (John 4:8b).

    Myrtle Van Laar is a retired educator and librarian. She taught first through fifth grade and later directed a children’s department in a public library in Hyattsville, MD. She enjoys her many nieces and nephews. Her hobbies are art, music, reading and writing poetry. She now resides in Silver Spring, MD. Some of her poems have been featured in these books: Patience and Grace; Best Poets of 2011; Who’s Who in Poetry 2012; Best Poems and Poets of 2012; Best Poets of 2013; and Who’s Who in American Poetry 2013.
