About this ebook

A bout with cancer led me to writing these notes while I took my journey with the Lord. This book has two purposes: (1) to motivate those with life-threatening diseases to want to live and (2) to give hope to those in despair who need their hearts lifted. I pray that you allow yourself to take a journey with the Lord through this book and also allow yourself to get comfortable by being in peace. The Lord gave me the purpose to write these notes and you will receive your purpose, but in order to receive it you must be living a godly life. You must believe and have faith in the Lord. Be not afraid when He reveals your purpose, because everyone does not have the same purpose. I ask that you take a risk and get to know Jesus for yourself; then spread your joy to others, and they will spread their joy to others. This book is to reach as many lost souls as possible, to bring them back to Jesus so they can walk their journey with the Lord.

My Journey with the Lord
Author

Deborah A. Winslow-Quattlebaum

Hi, my name is Dee Quattlebaum, and I am an ovarian cancer survivor since January 1999. I am a Christian and a rebel for the Lord. I was married for eighteen years, until my husband died last year. He was my best friend, and I am going to miss him. I love to eat, to go shopping, and to reach out to people who have sad faces and help them turn the frown into a smile. I love talking to the youth because they are our future. I love to know what a young person is thinking so I can guide him or her through the Jesus in me, straight on the right path. I am known to most as a teacher, a mentor, and an advocate of doing the right thing. I love walking for exercise but also like to mull things over in my head while taking my journey with the Lord, so He can also steer me on the right path. I am fun-loving and love peace all around me. I am what my Lord has made me. Thank you for letting me share a little of me with you.

    AUTHOR’S NOTE

This book was written to encourage people diagnosed with a life-threatening disease, to give them hope in their time of despair. The personal notes were written and guided by the Holy Spirit, who led my hands on the keyboard to type the thoughts onto paper as I continued the journey with my Lord. Writing this book kept me in good spirits, and I shared the joy with each of you so that you can share it with others. Do not give or lend this book to anyone, because it should be a reference every time your spirit needs to be lifted.

    ACKNOWLEDGMENT

This book is dedicated to my late husband, Otis, who died June 30, 2012. He was an inspiration and a constant reminder to stay focused on the completion of the book. Otis, I know you would be so happy to be able to see this copy in print. You were patient with me when I wanted to throw in the towel. Otis, even though you are gone, your disposition will stay with me forever. I love you, and I want this book to get published on the anniversary of your death. I must continue to burn the candle at both ends, and I know you would have done the same for me.

This book is also dedicated to all of Otis’s children—they know who they are; a sister; and a slew of nieces, nephews, and cousins. I especially give a holler to my best friends all over Pennsylvania and my family there and in New York. They also know who they are. Otis, I want to thank you for the several times I read some of my notes to you, and no matter how busy you were, you continued to listen to me and give me encouragement. I pray that the notes I read to you blessed you as they blessed me. Otis, I want you to know that I appreciate you with all my heart. Rest in peace and go with God. I will miss you, but we must both get on with our lives. I pray that I did not miss anyone, because everyone that was involved with me during the writing of this book believed in me and told me that the book was going to be a success. I thank those that I did not give special attention to; I do want you to know that you are also appreciated.

    MATTHEW 10:40

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

    MY NOTES ON MATTHEW 10:40

Father, You are first in my life. This means that no one in my life is before You, including my family and my Christian brothers and sisters. I no longer stand in the background and give You the praise. I’m right up front giving You the praise, the honor, and the glory, knowing that people who love me love the Jesus in me. People who despise me despise the Jesus in me. Thank you, Jesus, for delivering me from people. In the precious name of Jesus, amen.

    PSALM 133:1

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

    MY NOTES ON PSALM 133:1

    2457.jpg

Father, You have revealed to me, when I am looking up to You, that it is easier to smile than to frown, because it takes more effort to be angry than to be joyful. I have learned that the brothers and sisters in the church have no problem in honoring You when they are in the sanctuary; but as soon as they leave the church and think that no one sees them, they reveal themselves in an ungodly fashion. This is no way to honor You. By honoring You, we come to You humble and submissive.
