    Author’s Note

It’s always been a pastime of mine—writing rhymes with a punch line or a little twist (hence the With a Twist of Rhyme). They were written as general observations or about family, friends and co-workers. I was born in the teeny Wisconsin town of Darboy (not on the map) and for reasons I can’t determine moved to New York City in the 60s. So the themes of my rhymes move back and forth from country to city. As the rhymes accumulated on my hard drive, I occasionally submitted a collection to publishers (you’ve heard this before) and was always rejected. So at age seventy-six, it seemed time to self publish.

The rhymes are best sipped slowly a few at a time and not guzzled all at once. I hope they bring you a smile. Making people laugh is one step removed from saving their souls.

I’ve included at the end an old-fashioned hymn I wrote. As much as I love it, no church would give it a try, not even my local church choir. What fun to publish it here in spite of the naysayers.
