About this ebook

If every Christian knew who they were as a child of God, if they knew their identity in Christ and how valuable they are just because they are His, and if all this went beyond head knowledge and into heart knowledge, just imagine the power in that understanding. Broken relationships could be mended, and families could work out their differences. Individuals held captive by their insecurities would experience freedom in their lives.

Ill Love You Anyway, by author Lori Davis, seeks to help Christians experience the freedom of forgiving and letting go of the past. You can break down the walls of protection and be free to give and receive love the way God intended. You can learn to extend unconditional grace and love to others. Davis explains how to recognize that the people who hurt us may have also been hurt in life and that they too may be living with walls of protection around their hearts.

If we can integrate the truth of who God says we are within our daily lives, we can come to experience a deeper relationship with the Lord.

Lori writes this book from the inside looking out. She lived this book and has a vantage point few are ever willing to talk about. Walk in her steps as you read and learn how to overcome anger, pain, and disappointment.

    In Loving Memory

I wrote I’ll Love You Anyway in memory of my dad, Jimmy Davis. I am thankful for my dad and thankful for the man he was. I am thankful to God, my heavenly Father, for working in my heart and in my life to bring me to the place where I could forgive my dad for the past.

    Acknowledgments

As I have journeyed through life and reflected on the events in my life, I have grown in my faith and understanding of God. I realize that God truly works in all things, and if we allow Him, He will work for our good. I know He placed every one of the people and events in my life for a purpose to conform me to the image of His Son so I can fulfill His purpose for my life. Therefore, I am eternally grateful and thankful to Him for His love, patience, and divine hand upon my life. I also want to thank Him for placing His servants at Grace Ministries Tennessee to teach me forgiveness and my identity in Christ. I thank all my friends at Grace Ministries Tennessee for being obedient to the Lord and always pointing me to Him.

Mom, thank you for being the loving, compassionate, and strong woman you have always been. I also want to thank you for always loving me and being there for me when I needed you. I thank you for finding your strength in the Lord and remaining faithful to Him and to Dad. I thank God that He chose you and Dad to be my parents.

I love you all! I am blessed, and I am eternally grateful the Lord has blessed me with you.

    Introduction

I have always believed God is in everything. A few years before my dad passed away, I realized that God was working through me. He wanted me to love my father as He does. It was quite an insurmountable task for me considering our past. How could I, a broken individual, love someone when he had inflicted so much hurt and pain? Impossible! It’s like asking Jack to give some water to Jill when Jack has several cracks in his pail. Any water Jack had in his pail is now on the floor. How was I supposed to love my dad as Christ did when my heart was so severely wounded? My love tank had holes. Any love I had in my love tank seeped out. Just as Jack needed a new pail without holes, I needed to heal. I was broken and angry from the years of verbal abuse and emotional abandonment, but the heavenly Father pursued me to get my needs met, to find the strength in Him to forgive my dad, and to love my dad despite our past.

I know I am not alone. I know many people can relate. Praise the Lord; I received healing before my dad passed, and I was able to love him like Christ. Unfortunately, many people never experience healing or reconciliation in their relationships before their loved one passes. Many times, it is years later, if ever.

In this book, I talk specifically about the relationship I had with my dad. It started out rough, but in the
