FOREWORD
My name is Beverly B. Still, and I am a breast cancer survivor. It is my hope that this book will help anyone who is facing breast cancer themselves or going through it with a family member or friend. I am taking you step by step through my journey, and I have tried to make it as entertaining as possible.
In order to have a better appreciation for this self-evaluation, you need to know a few things about me personally. I am an English teacher who has been teaching for 28+ years. While I am not a prima Dona
, I am quite a girly girl. I love pretty clothes, and I get my nails done regularly. I love jewelry, sparkly things, and chocolate. I am not a petite lady. I am a plus-sized, tall woman who walks confidently and who is appropriately accessorized when in public. My dark brown/black hair is my crowning glory. I have always had wonderful hair thanks to my parent’s genealogy. Oh how I love my makeup, too! I love to play around with all kinds of makeup and never leave home without it.
I enjoy the beach, tanning in the real sun, reading, playing with my dog, and watching fun shows on television. I also like to catch up with my friends and family on the phone or on facebook weekly. I am a very loyal friend and confidant. My husband and I have no children of our own, so I often adopt
those of my friends for an afternoon or night. My students are my children for the most part . . . but they leave every year and move on to the next chapter in their lives.
I am definitely a people-person. Laughter is a must for every day I am alive. If you can’t find humor in life, then I think you aren’t really living. Humor is as essential to me as breathing.
I am a teetotaler who has a strong belief in God. I was raised in the church and worked as a
