My name is Robert G. Folk, Jr. I am a 93-year-old widower. I was born during the Great Depression, and like many from my generation, I was a hard worker. Many say that people who grew up in the depression era in the 1930s were not only hard workers, but they were realists about life. Moreover, many became innovators. To prove my point, I like to refer to the fact that Walt Disney came of age during my era, and he created Disneyland, in spite of the depression. I am proud to say that I am part of this American song and my life, too, has made a difference. That’s why I am writing my story to encourage the younger generations, who have experienced the effects of the current lingering recession, to see that it is all part of the American Dream. For all America has gone through, World Wars, depressions, recessions, we are survivors. We will make it.

Looking Back On My Life
Looking back over the hills and valleys of my life, I have had a wonderful life all told. Some ups, some downs, but altogether I have no complaints. I am now ninety three years of age and can tell you what happened.
I have had many friends—some men and some women, a few of the women I married and some were just wonderful friends.
I have done many things for various reasons and none criminal, usually to make a living and some for the pure pleasure of doing them.
My name is Robert G. Folk, Jr. I am a 93-year-old widower. I was born during the Great Depression, and like many from my generation, I was a hard worker. I am proud to say that I am part of this American song and my life, too, has made a difference.

CHAPTER ONE
My Family Background
I was born in the year 1919 to the union of Robert G. Folk, Sr. and Rosemary Pelham. I was the older of two children, the younger one being my sister Rosemary.
My childhood was very wonderful. I was born first in 1919, as I stated earlier. My parents were in their early 20’s and I was spoiled rotten for four years. Then my sister arrived in 1923, four years later. My sister’s name is Lady Rosemary Folk, born November 18, 1923. Then of course I had to share my parents’ love with her. It was a little tough at first, but I got over it.
From that time on we were truly a family, share and share alike. Being the oldest, I had responsibilities but nothing I couldn’t handle.
From what I know about my parents, my father was in pilot training at the end of World War I when he was discharged. His family lived in Nashville, Tennessee. My mother was born in El Paso. My parents met in Houston, Texas when she was visiting her cousins there. Apparently he had no job waiting for him. They were married in Houston then came to El Paso to live with her parents and he went to work selling Model T Fords. He was a very good salesman. My mother was a housewife.
I know this from experience and working on commission only, he saved enough money to get financed for a two-bedroom one-bath brick home in a subdivision we moved into when my sister was born.
From the age of three, my father was my hero. He helped me with any problems usually those my mother, who was the love of my life, wasn’t able to answer or chose not to.
When I was four, my dad would take
