    ALL GLORY TO GOD

First, I give all glory to God and my Lord Jesus Christ for all that He has done in my life and all that He has done in the life of each one in this book to set them free from depression. The greatest work has already been done in the lives of the people in this book and in the lives of many other people I have watched Him set free from depression. I know God will continue to set people free from depression through His love and His truth. Whether or not He makes a way for this book to be published and how He chooses to use it I entrust in His hands.

    DEDICATION

I dedicate this book to my loving and ever faithful wife Vicki. Without her love and support I would not be the man I am today and this book would never have been written. Over many years of my continuing education she has typed and edited countless papers and now this book. She has always been there for me. Her love, tireless help and work has made it all possible!

    SPECIAL THANKS

This book is in memory of my special friend Jim Huffman and his wife Mary who supported me over the past several years in this book project. Mary has continued to encourage me to finish this book after the recent death of her husband. Jim and Mary Huffman are founders of Bethel Christian Counseling. In addition to providing a local Christian counseling service they have also offered an AACC Christian counseling certificate course. Jim’s vision was to see Christian counselors in every church. Vicki and I took one of the two year Christian counseling certificate courses taught by Jim. This is how we met about ten years ago. It’s not often that a student gets to become close friends with his instructor. I always counted it a privilege and a blessing from God to become special friends with Jim and his wife Mary. Their contribution to this book becoming a reality cannot be measured.

My deep gratitude goes to each person whose story of freedom from depression is told in this book. Their stories make up this book. Without their stories of how God set them free from depression there would be no book. I thank them for not giving up and allowing God to work in their life. I thank each one of them for opening up their heart and mind and allowing me to share God’s love and God’s truth that set them free and allowing me to share their stories.

    FORWARD

Is this book for me? Will it help me or someone I care about to be set free from depression? There have been so many books written about depression. What’s different about this book? First, let me say that this book is not a textbook or a research book. This book is a story — a true story! It is the story of my journey with God over a twenty five year period. It is the story of my burden AND GOD’S BURDEN to set people free who suffer with depression. It is my story of how God showed me what causes depression and how to set people free from depression. It is a story of how I shared with others what God shared with me and then watched Him set person after person free from depression, panic attacks, worry, anxiety, fear, nervousness and even cutting (self-mutilation).

Are you still wondering: Is this book for me? Will it help me or someone I know to be set free from depression? Let me ask you a question. The answer to this question will help you to know if this book is for you. What do you think about yourself? What does your friend or loved one think about himself or herself? On a scale of one to ten what would you give yourself? Ten means that you are: a great persona special personan important person. At the other end of the scale, a One means that you are: way down at the bottom of the barrel … "scrapping
