    The Poet: Pastor Joffrey B. Hooks Joffrey B. Hooks is a Pastor at Labourers for Christ Ministries, under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Shaunette A. Houghton. A Chicago native, Pastor Hooks is an accomplished poet and author. His first published book of poetry, “Life’s Lyrics”, was published in 2001. His subsequent volumes of poetry are entitled “Ponderings”, “She” and “The Book of Verses”. To date, Pastor Hooks’ work in the field of education spans 20 years. With a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Elizabeth City State University and a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Chicago State University, he taught in the Chicago Public School system until 2009, has worked for Chicago State University and is currently employed with the City Colleges of Chicago. In addition to his functions in ministry and education, Mr. Hooks is an entrepreneur. He owns and operates two businesses. Beautiful Minds Tutoring Program tutors students in multiple disciplines at every level (elementary, high school, college and adult education). Creative Genius Graphic Designs is a graphic arts company that specializes in the creation of print media, websites and film. Pastor Joffrey and his wife Ginnye currently reside in Chicago.
