THE JOG
I am a runner. I’ve enjoyed running as far back as I can remember. When I run, it seems that my mind settles, and I can hear the Lord speak more clearly. One morning while I was jogging, I began to reflect on some things that God had brought me through about ten years earlier. It had been a time of confusion, not knowing where to put my trust, not understanding why God was allowing certain things to happen. The only phrase that I heard the Lord say during this time was, My grace is sufficient.
Back then, that seemed a little unfair of God to leave it at that. But, now I understand that His Grace is more than enough to see us through anything that will come our way. His grace is sufficient.
Back to the jog—as I ran, I thanked God for delivering me out of the prior confusion. I imagined myself as a caged bird that was allowed to go free. My jogging pace quickened as I experienced the excitement of realizing that I had escaped! When I jog, I pace myself to a rhythm. On this day, the rhythm was accompanied by phrases: live in liberty, you’ve been set free, I give joy for sorrow…
