Introduction
Congratulations on stepping up to the challenge of writing a novel in just 30 days. No small achievement, and I hope this planner/journal helps you achieve your goal.
Lots of people say they’re going to write a book but very few people actually do it. Whether it’s due to lack of motivation, lack of a good plot, or simply discovering it’s harder than it seems, lots of writers fall by the wayside and never get back to fulfilling their dream.
Let’s start with a positive attitude by telling yourself, you’re not going to be one of those writers!
Who Will Benefit from This Planner?
Many of you might be a regular NaWriNoMo participant and want to start planning before this year’s challenge gets underway. Some of you might be attempting the challenge for the first time. Perhaps you want to get more writing done. Maybe you want to learn a few tricks and get a grip on time management in order to become a more productive writer. Others might just want to get a book finally started and finished.
What You’ll Find in this Planner
I’ve tried to include something of everything. Things I’ve found that have helped me write 100 plus books over the space of ten years. I’ve not written all of them in 30 days but once I’ve started on a project that’s been my main focus until I’ve gotten the job done. Lots of preplanning helps and that’s why I decided to put this journal together to help others achieve the same level of focus and commitment. I’ve taken the NaNoWriMo challenge three times so I’m including tips from my own experience of what worked and what didn’t.
In the planner you’ll find tips on getting focused and staying motivated, how you can create a vision board (yes, some writers find it helps but it’s optional), a calendar to keep your daily schedule under control, blank pages where you can record your successes and failures and keep track of your mood and what worked for that day and what didn’t. You’ll also find some writing prompts for those days when you want a break from your story but still want to write.
Whatever you want to use in this journal/planner to help your journey is up to you so let’s get started….
Let’s Create a Vision Board
This is purely optional but some people find visual cues help them achieve a goal so check out vision boards.
What Is a Vision Board?
Some people refer to these boards as a map of what you really want to achieve. It’s where you put pictures, words and quotes that are a representation of what you want to have happen in your life…in this case, write a book. The purpose behind having a visual board is for you to attract the things that you want.
On your board, you can put up photos of what you want to do in life. For example, write and finish a book.
Some of these items might be the image of an author sitting at a computer writing or even in a bookstore signing
