Geraldine Edwards Hollis is a wife, mother and grandmother. She resides in Stockton, CA. She is a native of Mississippi. She attended Tougaloo College in Tougaloo Mississippi. While at Tougaloo, she embarked on the Historical Event that Changed History in Mississippi, as a member of the, “Tougaloo Nine”! Mrs. Hollis authored her first book entitled, Back to Mississippi in 2011. She is a public speaker, community activist, and volunteer with several non-profits. She constantly encourages, enlighten and mentor in living life while continuing to overcome adversity. She is strong in her beliefs and generous in her contributions. Mrs. Hollis enjoys living life healthy, fit and well and knows that education is a force to enable accountability to self and community. She enjoys writing and sharing her thoughts. The book, March Memories is written for the younger and busy audience. She intends to answer the questions of, why she put her life on the line and her future in jeopardy. She has history, autobiography and definitely shows how anyone can overcome challenges in their lives.

Fifty-two years ago the planning group and especially the Nine who entered the Jackson White only Library were engaged in the preparation of their life changing event that took place on March 27,1961. This happened before any other Mississippi Civil Rights Group and it was successful!!! The story about the Tougaloo Nine is vital, creditable and documented, If you don’t know your history, you are destined to repeat it
The Tougaloo Nine are not well known possibly because, of being successful. Then, Gov. Ross Barnett made such a big deal when the Freedom Riders came along to keep success from happening. This attempt downplayed the glorious results of the Nine’s successful intervention. The Nine were put in a forgotten state
from the remembrances of acknowledgment. Thus, ascertaining that the Nine are not included as civil Rights veterans. Surely the Nine, should be Acknowledged. The fact of opening the door of integration of the White-only Library successfully in the state is documented. The Nine are Civil Rights Advocates by the fact of what was done and when. As it stands, the Nine made a difference. The event,
