    About the Author

    Preface

How many of us would voluntarily share our most intimate secrets? If we say we would, would we then be permitting another to know us? I daresay that is an intimate level not many of us have achieved. But I am willing to be exposed in some things I will share for the sake of a greater purpose.

Many times we end up saying, You don’t know me. It may have come because we have been unable to explain ourselves or make a particular point. Often we feel judged unfairly and make no further attempts at establishing relationships. We all deal with situations differently.

In this book, He Knew Me, I want to delve into some instances where God Himself established a relationship with me. His foreknowledge of me led me to trust Him as He calculated into my account that which is necessary to live. He did it before I needed it.

I want to use the example of Jeremiah to whom the word of the Lord came. Sometimes the questions are asked by us: Who am I? Why am I here? and What is my purpose? Alas, today many have followed their own pursuits and thoughts and have not sought God, who can answer these questions. It’s not too late. He longs to have a relationship with His very own creation.

In the Word to Jeremiah He said, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations (1:5). Notice He said Before" to intimate a connection to Him before the connection to the mother’s womb. The Psalmist David says in Psalm 139:14–16 (AB),

I will confess and praise you for you are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are your works, and that my inner self knows right well.

My frame was not hidden from you when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately and curiously wrought [as if embroidered with various colors] in the depths of the earth (a region of darkness and mystery).

Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in your book all the days (of my life) were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.

This is foreknowledge. I stand in awe and amazement at this God. There is a time to speak (Ecclesiastes 3:7b). Silence precedes speaking. I have waited for this time to speak. The Lord knows when He wants something said. Hopefully what will be spoken has been approved by Him to bring awareness of His greatness to the reader.

This time of speaking has been in accordance to what has been spoken to me.

The intent of He Knew Me is to set forth that speaking to you. In particular places you may find yourself needing wisdom and guidance from the Word of God. I also endeavor to reveal a journey in places where I needed guidance and help which many of you may identify with.

I recommend an open heart to respond to the Holy Spirit of God, who is the Spirit of truth. I pray this will be an opportunity for you to desire to know the Lord in a deep and intimate way.

He Knew Me is my personal journey from my mother’s womb to a present account of the Lord’s ongoing presence in my life. I really will not mind if you are moved by the Spirit of God to laugh at some of the things I share—or to cry. You may even want to pray for me. Prayer is always appreciated.

He Knew Me records a search for the truth and unveils the presence of God in His foreknowledge of all my days.

My expectation for you who read this account is that you will experience the same knowledge of God. He knows you in particular and has great plans and opportunities for your life. Everyone’s experience with God will be different. This is great treasure for you to keep close to you. You are special to God, and in His foreknowledge of you, He has carved out something that only you can fulfill.

You may not yet grasp everything spoken in this book. Indeed, it takes faith to believe that God, who knows all things, would speak to you as He did to Jeremiah. He knows where you are in your walk of faith. I had to start with a grain of mustard seed. It may be a small step, but your faith will increase as you hear the Word of God.

Here’s an interesting point: The multitudes were not able to eat all the food they were fed with five barley loaves and two fish. They could have as much as they wanted. When they were filled, He (Jesus) said to His disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost (John 6:11–12). There will be occasions when your appetite will increase, and you will devour what you were unable to digest before.

Set yourself in agreement with the God who speaks. As you do, allow Him to shake loose your insecurities, your doubts, your inferiorities, your small thinking of yourself. He knew you.

I can identify with Jeremiah. He said what he couldn’t do, but God told him not to say that. Just as Jeremiah needed to hear what God had placed in him, you may need to recognize the true calling God has for you.

He Knew Me will touch the places that only God can examine. Whether you are faced with difficulties overcoming patterns of thinking, coarse language, or a spirit of rebellion; there is hope in God. We all must allow the dealings of God as He speaks to us in light.

He will help you as you believe the gospel of the good news of Jesus Christ. Your old man has been crucified with Christ. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).

There is a price to pay for believing. By this I mean that there is a value to the process of developing your relationship with Christ. This understanding came through His grace and love for me. I finally knew that He knew me. You will value your relationship with the Lord as you begin to spend time in His presence. The anointing will increase. This is the Holy Spirit’s empowering we receive from the Father to do a particular work.

Either the knowledge God reveals to you about yourself will develop your prayer life as
