A NEW FLOWER IN THE GARDEN
AN UNEXPECTED SURPRISE
Where do I start? Well as it says in a famous song, let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start………
Stephanie and Olivia live in a very nice yellow house, near the top of a hill, on a very busy road. They aren’t allowed to play in the front yard because they have no fence and it is too dangerous with all of the traffic whizzing past nearly all day, and all night long.
So what do the girls do when they want to play? They play in their backyard of course, which is very big. At the very end of the yard is a shed, where the chooks used to live, but Daddy now keeps a lot of his garden tools. Next to the shed is a water tank – Daddy uses that to store water when it rains so that he can water the gardens and not have to use tap water. Rain water of course, is a lot better for the plants than tap water because it comes from the sky and doesn’t have any chemicals in it.
Just in front of the shed and the water tank is Daddy’s vegie garden – he grows snow peas, zucchini, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, corn, rhubarb and strawberries (which are the girls’ favourite). Down one side of the yard, is a long garden with flowers and trees in it. There’s a frangipani tree, some roses, cactus, camellias,
