INTRODUCTION

This book is not based on any personal vision. God did not speak to me and I did not dream some frightening dream of future events. I could wish that either of these things were true but it seems I am a person who learns in another way. This book does however represent an attempt on my part to predict events in broad terms for the thirteen years spanning mid-2013 to late-2026, and I will explain later why these years have particular significance in my mind. Implicit to my efforts is a strong belief that 2012 is not The End as such, but I think I could say from the outset that it marks a significant time in history, and that it is probably both the end of the beginning and the beginning of the end. It will initiate a period of great choices and of a final great polarisation. As such, some sort of connection between the Mayan and Christian eschatological calendars must exist, and later it is the exercise of this book to try and sketch that connection out.

This present journey probably began with my searching YouTube for useful videos for the classroom. I came to the world of YouTube a little later than most, and probably did a lot of catching up since the beginning of 2011. At first I believed most of what I heard and saw there, but came in time to understand that with certain topics there is an active disinformation machine at work as well. Now I am a slower believer, but I keep searching, because mixed in with the bad science and New Age spin and disinformation is some genuinely interesting science, and some very interesting alternative takes on reality. What drew me in particularly, I think, was trying to find out more about NASA’s warnings that 2012 would see some very disruptive sunspot activity, and I wondered whether this could be tied in with the Mayan prophecy. When earthquakes decimated Christchurch, New Zealand (my home town) and Japan, it was not long until I had signed up for daily solar, volcanic and earthquake reports. Soon I also got interested in asteroid watching, an interest probably stemming from my earlier background in astronomy.

Consequently I spent quite some time, at first, getting into Google Sky, where I was trying to find out if any asteroids had been imaged on the Google snaps, and tried to find out how often these images were being updated. Perhaps a month later I came across a YouTube video that asked why certain regions of the Google Sky map had been blanked out, while the same regions on the Microsoft Telescope program remained intact and showed unusually bright objects in the infra-red images. This suggested that Google, which is to say the military (who supply Google with the images), might actively have been hiding infrared data from the public. I followed more YouTube leads and before long had stumbled upon peculiar images seen under high zoom near these critical coordinates, showing weird donut-shaped craft that were leaving tracks all across Google Sky images. However, I finally dismissed most if not all of these objects as being some sort of out-of-focus satellites, probably controlled from the Earth, a long way out in space. At about this time a theory developed that the large earthquakes in Chile, Christchurch and Japan seemed to fit a pattern, and occurred each time the Earth aligned between the Sun and the constellations Leo and Virgo in the sky. This was the same region of sky that Google Sky had its blanked out pieces of sky, and it seemed that some sort of connection might be possible. The earthquakes suggested that perhaps a massive dark object in Leo could be coming in towards the solar system (or indeed was already within it), causing these spikes in the size of recent earthquakes, also perhaps producing the unusual current solar cycle. This solar cycle has been unusual for its continuation beyond the normal time of solar maximum in 2001, with flares growing in size and frequency for two or three years beyond this date. However, most researchers favour a view that current solar anomalies indicate that an external magnetic field is interfering with the natural magnetic pole reversal of the field in the Sun. Looking for signs of a very magnetic Planet X therefore occupied many a night from January to September 2011, in an attempt to personally satisfy myself about these anomalies.

Toward the end of 2011 I also began subscribing to financial newsletters, in an attempt to become more financially literate. I wanted to know if another collapse like 2008 was on the way. I didn’t want to get caught twice. These new studies showed me one thing quite plainly—that common sense financial prognostications made by assorted experts nearly always turned out to be wrong. It seems clear to me, as I watch from a small distance, that the Stock Market is more than a little rigged, with banks and governments bending the system to serve their own purposes. Indeed, I have discovered, it is entirely legal in the United States for congressmen to own stocks and engage in insider trading. I am now a little afraid to buy shares, as even an intelligent purchase now appears to carry a large risk of failure. Perhaps I am lucky that I have hardly any cash to invest in stocks anyway. Playing the options market seems to me to be the profitable idea, but it takes time and concentration to do this, and my job leaves me nearly none of either. So I haven’t tried this either.

Government monetary policies in the United States and Europe—such as quantitative easing and continuing bank bailouts—all appear to be measures taken to plug a fatal gouge in the side of the western world’s financial ship. At face value, and on the basis of fundamentals, financial collapse appears imminent, and—if it is not—this would actually be more proof that the system does not actually work as it should. I have considered how nations might collectively solve their financial problems, and have a few thoughts about how that would have to go. Most people, I think, do not understand money or the economy very well, except in a basic way. So I have spent a little longer on the financial section in this book than some may like. While writing this section I have tried to gain a sense of conviction about what is actually most likely to happen, as it is almost certainly true that the financial system’s demise will drive much of what we will see in the next decade.

I am indebted to my colleague, Andrew Challinor, for his input to certain discussions given in this book. His brother is a banker in Qatar, and his brother’s actions as a banker have been as clear as writing on a wall as regards the perception in big-money circles of an approaching financial disaster. Andrew, for his part, is something of an expert on the various military strengths and weaknesses of the nations, and was able to comment on the likelihood or not of victory in wars that nations might consider fighting. His knowledge was so useful, because global war emerges in my mind as a very attractive option that could allow broad defaults on debt and provide for a faster overall recovery than years of deflationary control and currency wars, and probable collapse within that struggle into a new Great Depression.

What I don’t know enough about is the Shadow Government, but I believe it is very real, and in terms of long-term trends is actually in control. As to whether it is an evil entity, that is a matter of opinion. Evil is intangible in many ways, but in as much as this secret power group pursues global secular World Government, which probably means either the eventual expunging or total regulation of religion, and probably totalitarian control, it is certainly evil in the eyes of the religious. I am happy to stick with a definition that the evil are those who believe the future is solely in their own hands, and act without reference to any deity. Unfortunately, religions almost unanimously define evil as failure to obey the Will of God, yet are themselves guilty of the very self-protection and mass control that mark out humanist movements as evil. The thing that differs, perhaps, is the motive.

Nevertheless, religion is surely right that the human being is intrinsically evil, and in general the more power Man acquires, the greater the evil he can, and at times will, perpetrate. Unless, of course, the current generation is different! Yet every generation thinks it might be different, so I doubt this generation can escape history’s repetition. And there is nothing like a great financial collapse to bring out the evil in a nation or among globalists.

In 1958, Robert Welch of the John Birch Society outlined the steps a Shadow Government would have to take to strip the American Republic of its wealth and freedom (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZU0c8DAIU4&feature=%20player_detailpage). Virtually all that he described has since come to pass, so that we are now only a disaster or two away from a sideways step into an American form of fascism. And fascism, when it has achieved its goals, finally transforms itself into a kind of socialism, which is what World Government requires. So I fear this Shadow Government, and its power to achieve its ends, which is a World Government run by elite families—a kind of new royalty, in part supported by old royalty that fears it is about to be discarded. The pathway will probably be through fascist revolutions in the wake of financial and/or other disasters. Yet some of these plans for World Government must seem to be slipping away from the elitists just now, as world population grows at over two hundred thousand people per day, and as growing political unrest sees the terrain changing even as they try to navigate it. These elitists have a will-to-control that will play an increasingly important role in what happens in the next thirteen years, financial collapse or otherwise, yet a financial collapse will certainly be to their advantage in terms of gaining more control. The next thirteen years are going to be a battle of wills between the people and the controlling powers, and are likely to be very challenging indeed.

But before we go into this area, the Mayan calendar fear, and all its possible explanations, will be looked at first. I will be writing all of this section throughout 2012, as we approach the date, and finishing as we move into 2013. I will leave the material as is, even if it does not transpire and may show me up as somewhat paranoid, as this will serve as a kind of time capsule of those thoughts and neuroses that reigned as the world approached December 2012. I will admit that I moved to West Africa in case of a disaster in the Pacific region, that I bought camping and survival gear to the tune of a few thousand dollars for a holiday spanning 21 December 2012, and took my holiday at that time to a region at least 800 metres above sea level—just in case. I will also admit, in hindsight, that I needn’t have done any of this, yet even a 30% probability would have been enough for me to take these steps. That is, largely, what prompted me to start this book in the first place—an attempt to order my own thoughts and to establish the degree to which I had to play safe. Yet my prevailing feeling after a year or two of thinking about this is that the real threat for mankind is not so much from outer space as from inner space. Or perhaps, to lean on the parallelism of religious thinking, it is the threat to the human inner space that precipitates the threat from outer space, and that threat is still on the way, ever nearer.

Chapter 1

THE MAYAN CALENDAR

It is commonly claimed by Maya themselves that just because their Long Count calendar is coming to the close of a Great Cycle in 2012 it does not necessarily mean that mankind is facing a cataclysm. Modern Maya have been appearing in the media and going to lengths to express their confidence that the end of a Great Cycle is more of a signpost than a final destination in the calendar. It is a celebration just to live right through one cycle, as this is a cycle of around 5100 years. It was Ernst Forstemann—who is often credited with being the discoverer of the Mayan Long Count calendar—who perhaps therefore unfortunately suggested, in his 1996 commentary on the Dresden Codex, that the Mayan image of the serpent vomiting water onto birds was probably an apocalyptic symbol of destruction. But perhaps the image indicates only that some great spiritual cleansing is at hand (after all, even Noah’s Flood achieved this). Or perhaps it means that destruction and spiritual cleansing will take place together, yet without it being the final end of civilisation.

According to the Maya, the Mayan calendar was being used by people who predated the Maya themselves. Certain Mayan elders even claim that the calendar and their wisdom came from star-brothers located in the region of the Pleiades. This connection to the Pleiades is a common ancient connection. The Mayan calendar is certainly as old as the Christian calendar, and possibly even as old as the Jewish one, which claims to trace the ascent of Man from around 4000BC. With the thirteenth baktun beginning in 2012, it is clear that the Long Count calendar must have started in about 3114BC, which in a biblical calendar places its origin at about 770 years before the Great Flood of Noah. In the late Jewish tradition of the Book of Enoch, which places the Fall of Man in the days of Jared and Enoch, this calendar would have had its origin in the time of the still undisturbed Paradise of Eden, about 100 years before the Fall of Man.

The Mayan baktun is a counting period of 144000 days, and is considered to be a miniature World-Age, spanning about 394 years. The Maya remember around seven of these in their race memory, so that their reckoning begins from around 760BC. It is interesting that the death of Jesus in 28AD falls exactly two cycles of 394 years after this start date. It was Immanuel Velikovsky who believed that the Mayan cycle actually began with an encounter between the planets Earth and Mars at around 747BC, thirteen years later, which was in turn possibly linked to an earlier cosmic disaster that coincided approximately with the Exodus (which he placed at 1535BC), which is indeed exactly two baktun earlier. The conversion of Saul of Tarsus, and the birth of Christianity, also followed the death of Jesus with about a thirteen year shift. The Mayan sacred book, the Popol Vuh, speaks of four world-ages, each a baktun in duration, each ending in a disaster of one sort or another, and each disaster attributed to human inability to revere the gods. The fifth World-Age, beginning this year, arises as the Sun aligns with the dark centre of the Milky Way, which represents a womb, so it is as much a birth as a purging. Even birth is traumatic, however, and birth travails of Creation before Judgment Day is also a biblical metaphor. So four out of seven cycles have ended badly, and by appending Velikovsky’s two earlier cosmic events one could argue that these cycles have ended badly six times out of nine. So, could this be the case again in 2012? The Hopi Indians share this view of four world ages, the fourth of which is about to end because of the white man and his greed, and his cold faith in technology. They describe the end of this world-age as a Great Purification, and this suggests, at some level, the necessity for a bad ending.

The Maya do not make claims that there will be an exact alignment of the Sun and Earth with the galactic centre, although it is often claimed that the closest alignment of the x—and z-axes of the ecliptic plane (the plane of the planets’ motion around the Sun) with the corresponding axes of the galactic plane occurred in 1998, according to best estimates of the actual line defining the zero-latitude line in the galactic plane. No astronomical upset occurred in 1998, or has since occurred, so one can be sure that the primary significance of any alignment is certainly not an astronomical one, and would necessarily have to be astrological in nature. Gravitationally, even the supposed three-million-solar-mass Black Hole at the centre of the Galaxy could have no more influence on the earth than a millionth of the Sun’s gravitational force, so gravity cannot be the issue. The 2012 event is simply a solstice alignment of the Sun with a dark spot that ancient cultures (if not modern astronomers, who differ by a few arc-minutes) identify as the galactic centre, and the solstice alignment no doubt has its traditional astrological and occult significances.

Despite assurances by many modern Maya that life will probably just go on as normal after 2012, something a little more negative appears in certain early Mayan inscriptions. The Tortuguero site in southern Mexico carries an inscription from the 7th century AD which describes the end of the current baktun (on 21 December, 2012) as the time at which B’olonYokte Kuh will appear, arriving in great investiture. That is, it suggests that some powerful divinity will appear to all. The Vase of Seven Gods suggests that B’olonYokte is one of the seven gods of Mayan mythology. These divinities usually demanded a blood sacrifice at their appearance. Yet his name also contains the construction of the nine (Yokte), as if the god belongs to a group of nine, and it seems that he could represent one of the seven planets or Sun or Moon—also regarded as gods. This deity is ancient, associated with conflict, war and the underworld. He is a god sometimes depicted with a noose around his neck, and is one who offers human sacrifice to bring about the close of the Great Cycle. He is not a friendly visitor. His attributes sound a lot like European associations with the planet Mars, somehow close and brilliant at the end of 2012, parading near the Earth and looking to receive a sacrifice from it.

Yet perhaps the nine refers instead to nine baktun, so that the name indicates that this deity reappears every 9 x 394 = 3546 years. This is not far off the 3600 years of the modern Nibiru legend. The biblical Exodus, which probably involved a planetary body passing the earth, occurred in 1524BC (as maintained in Moses—the Shepherd King, by the same author), and nine more baktun would end up in 2022AD. Move the Exodus date back to 1534BC (Velikovsky dated it at 1535BC), and the nine baktun would end neatly in 2012, and a connection would be evident. Whether this resplendent deity is Mars, or is a long-period planet on a 3546-year orbit, neither seems to bring a nice ending to baktun 13, if one accepts the power or veracity of these inscriptions from fourteen centuries ago. Nor is thirteen a lucky number! Or, perhaps, this deity’s manifestation should be understood more symbolically, as indicating that global war is imminent. Through the bloodshed of war, Mars could perhaps make his offering to the underworld. 2012 may be that year in which the Shadow Government makes it plans for global war and begins to set the stage for that to happen. In that case, such a war would break out within the calendar year following December 21, 2012.

Other esoteric teachers agree that 2012 will be a time of purging. The guru Kalki Bhagavan believes that the year 2012 will bring the Kali Yuga (the Black Age, or Age of Degeneracy) to an end, presumably by some sort of obliteration or mysterious transformation of degenerate society, giving birth afterwards to a new enlightened Age. Yet there are many Hindus who reject such a notion, which suggests intervention by a supreme deity of some sort, and seems to override the more natural process of purging from sin based on the promise of good future incarnations as a reward for good karma. Yet Hinduism also has the notion of occasional incarnations of Vishnu (Gautama Buddha is sometimes considered to be one such avatar) so that a populace sinking into degeneracy can be directed back to the path of enlightenment by a great teacher. Perhaps the guru expects the appearance of a great new spiritual leader in 2012.

In astrology, the Age of Pisces is also approximately at an end in this decade, and mankind stands at the point of entry into the Age of Aquarius, which might be imagined as an age of washing. Perhaps the year 2012, with the great cosmic alignment with the Galaxy centre also occurring, simply fixes a temporal point for the transition of these Ages.

Chapter 2

POLE SHIFTS AND

THE CARRINGTON EFFECT

Evidence from magnetized lava flows at Steen’s Mountain in Oregon and elsewhere, and from the magnetic orientation of glaze crystals in ancient Near East pottery, suggests dramatic and relatively recent changes in the Earth’s magnetic field. There appear to be corroborating alterations in old lava flows on the planet Mars, and some who believe in a Young Earth model, and in catastrophic events that give events an appearance of great age when in fact they are much more recent, prefer to read the evidence as pointing to a magnetic pole deflection that occurred in living memory, perhaps less than three thousand years ago, and possibly caused by the close approach of the planet Mars. A more traditional geological time-scale places the reversal recorded at Steen’s Mountain at around fifteen million years in the past. But in either reading of the data, the evidence is very clear that the reversal, whenever it occurred, did so very rapidly—at a rate of more than one degree per week. That is, the magnetic field of the Earth radically altered its direction, if not fully inverted itself, in less than three years, according to the magnetic record in the consecutively deposited layers of lava.

While the pole shift recorded there did not signal the end of the world as such, it was clearly able to turn Steen’s Mountain into a volcano and probably had a number of other undesirable effects. This makes sense, if the standard model for Earth magnetism is correct. This model thinks in terms of a fast-moving sea of molten lava streaming in an equatorial direction around the Earth’s core, creating a current loop and an induced magnetic field along the loop’s axis that emerges from the poles. To produce an inversion in this field, the high-speed flow of inner magma needs to be stopped, reversed and accelerated in the other direction. The pressures on the magma would seek any kind of alleviation, and increased volcanism would certainly be expected, as well as increased and probably cataclysmic seismicity. Yet such a reversal would also clearly take time, and three years could never explain a slowdown like this. Indeed even three thousand years would be a short time in such a model of deceleration and reversal.

To account for a rapid reversal or deflection like that seen in the Steen’s Mountain record and elsewhere, it appears that a mechanism must exist somewhere which can either turn the core over quickly within the Earth while the crust remains in relatively unaltered orientation, or which can otherwise invert the exterior Earth quickly while leaving the core to spin in its original direction. In each case there is a quick relative reversal in the direction of the magnetic field lines through the crust of the Earth, and in the later magnetic fossil record this will have the appearances of a magnetic pole inversion.

It was Immanuel Velikovsky who picked up on the fact that the ancient Egyptians spoke of two periods in early human history when the Sun rose not in the East but the West. Scholars originally took this reference to the West Sun as being figurative, but it was Queen Hapshetsut (about 1120BC) who had her burial chamber adorned with constellations that reflected both the southern and northern night skies, as if her day had known both. Recent German excavations also find a record of a night sky showing about 26 degrees more of the southern sky than today, at about the time of the Stonehenge culture, in what may have been the recovery from a more than 30 degrees sideways deflection of the outer crust, and a more than 90 degrees relative displacement of the magnetic and geographical poles. This would place the most recent pole shift within human history, and one wonders if the event was not the same as also triggered Noah’s Flood, or otherwise that which caused the collapse of the Tower of Babel not long afterwards. Most observers agree that pole shifts are a recurring natural process, repeated many times already in geological history, and many modern researchers believe a new pole shift is not only imminent but may even be underway already (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Ru0VHoYv7BE).

Bruce Cathie, in his famous Harmonic books, and in subsequent interviews in connection with a movie he is planning to make about his Earth-grid findings and UFOs, added the very interesting statement that researchers he had spoken to explained that the Earth’s magnetic field is in fact two fields connected together, and that each of the fields may originate from a different convective zone within the Earth. These two fields seem to have slightly different oscillation frequencies, so in superposition generate a kind of magnetic beat frequency between them. In that case, it is not only one field that is collapsing, but perhaps two. Or perhaps one is collapsing and the other is not. The interplay between the fields may be generating some movements in the spin axis, and may also be responsible for the loud low-frequency humming sounds that have been heard throughout the world at various times from late 2010 to early 2013, especially in early 2012. If this is the cause, then the indications are that the vibrational frequencies of these two magnetic fields are changing, so that their interaction is sometimes becoming audible in the 20-100Hz range.

In 1899, scientists spoke of the Schumann Cavity Resonance, which was nicknamed the heart-beat of the Earth. From 1899 to 1986, this frequency was fixed at 7.8Hz—and thus below human hearing. But from 1986 onwards, it began rising sharply, and by 1998 it was already at 10Hz, only 10Hz below the human hearing threshold. In 2012, with the audible humming of the Earth, most recently reported in West Seattle in early September 2012, this frequency may have reached 30Hz or more. A week later, near Seattle, Mount Rainier erupted, suggesting that some of this noise may be linked to the subterranean movement of magma. Even the 1998 evidence is clear that internal changes have been happening in the Earth for several decades already.

It was America’s sleeping prophet, Edgar Cayce, who in the 1950s said that a new magnetic pole shift was going to occur soon, and this is certainly consistent with observations made over the last one hundred and fifty years that the magnetic field of the Earth seems to be weakening in general, with more recent measurements that show that patches of reverse magnetic polarity are showing up in each hemisphere. Cayce believed that as the pole shift became more rapid, and a full inversion became imminent, a series of cataclysmic events would take place. He believed Japan would descend into the waves, as would large sections of the coastal United States. Florida would be the first to subside. The Great Lakes would end up emptying through the Mississippi system into the Gulf, as land to their south collapsed into a general basin. Inundations would also submerge much of Europe suddenly. He described seismic activity increasing at both poles, leading to a series of large upheavals there. Following this, he saw volcanoes being set off in the torrid zones, along with more earthquakes, tsunamis and large storms. The storms would arise because of changes in global climate, and this in turn signalled crop failures and extended droughts. Satellite maps are already showing that the Gulf Stream has virtually stopped, and this is among the factors creating the record heat and storm energy being seen in the United States and Spain in 2012, and then in Australia in early 2013.
