    FOREWORD

Ephesians 5: 31 NAS "FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH. 32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband."

This may appear to be a strange way to have begun a foreword but nonetheless this verse of Scripture reveals to me what I have seen in the lives of Rob and Vicki Parks. The way I understand this verse of Scripture is that a believing wife is to be supportive and a helpmate to her believing husband in carrying out and fulfilling the work allotted to him by the Heavenly Father, just as it is with the church, as a helpmate to Jesus in carrying out the work allotted to Him by the Heavenly Father, in His ongoing life in the world today.

In the some 40 years that I have known and watched the lives of Rob and Vicki I have seen the oneness as was prayed for by Jesus, for the church in the Gospel of John 17:22 —that they be one, just as we are one.—.

Their diligence to serve the Lord had, at times, caused them to move too swiftly, but nevertheless their willingness to move at His call, no matter the cost, has always turned out to be a spiritual reward in their lives. As I said once before, I’ve always seen Rob as a man on the run, unknown by me and possibly by Rob himself at the time, running from the traditions of man, but none the less ever seeking the path laid out for him by the Lord. I believe Rob has never been quite able to escape being faced with the traditions of man (Mark 7:13) because he is as one crying out in the wilderness, where so many of the well meaning believers are living today, trapped in the traditions of man with a deep desire in their hearts to be set free. The prophetic side of Rob is that he is a visionary but never losing sight of those who are somewhat nearsighted and unwilling to step out when the call of the Lord comes.

On the other hand Rob’s wife Vicki, being more or less a counter weight in their lives together, was a bulwark of steadfastness, faithfulness and respect for Rob and the call God has placed on his life. Without a doubt Vicki was the woman spoken of in Proverbs 31:10-31 an excellent wife and truly an anointed worshiper and worship leader, writing many of her worship songs herself. Often times people see worship only in verbal song, music and praise. True worship is being in harmony with the Father’s will for the moment, no matter what the task or activities at hand may be, that was Vicki’s life no matter where she was, in a church setting, in the workplace or one-on-one with others, her life, in whatever mode excelled in worship.

The passages in this book give us wise direction and insight for our lives in Christ Jesus, as well as a brief testimony of Rob and Vickie’s journey toward maturity in Christ. Rob is still on the run, moving and having his being in the Lord. Vicki has moved on in her journey, leaving a legacy of true harmony and an example to women of a true helpmate in Christ Jesus. INTRODUCTION

This book chronicles my wife, Vicki, and I’s journey through life and the kingdom. It incorporates many truths that God has revealed to us along the way. In chapter 15, it’s stated, our lifes aren’t a fifty yard dash but a marathon with much to learn along the way.

Understanding this truth will help us not to be too focused on the destination but enjoy the process. I’ve prophetic gifting and it helps me to see into the future, but the Lord has given me much grace through my wife, to help me live in the here and now.

The God of creation has given us natural seasons to teach his people about spiritual seasons. This is articulated clearly in the book of Ecclesiastes.

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. He has made everything beautiful in its time, (Ecclesiastes 3:1,11)

Through the sixty one years of my life, I’m learning
