About this ebook

In a modern day world people struggle with economic matters and every day family life. Most are proud Americans that support all aspects of our beautiful country. Millions stand waving to war vets from our new days of political violence. The honored wave of people wearing veterans apparel give the only sense of true feeling as they walk by. Then reality melts back in with a kick. Re- entering the civilian world can come with numbers of issues. Things that one had in life now have new meanings. Memories and thoughts race trapped in the brilliant mind of a writer. As an artist Perry Lord King struggles to continue with Post Traumatic Stress disorder. One of the attributes from the war alone. Then there are others as well. Much like anyone Perry has personal issues in his own life. The challenge for him is juggling fantasies and realities while maintaining family life using a never ending idled body and a revved up mind. Sometimes the cloud around this authors work can seem a bit dark over Perry L. King from living the events that plague him. By using Kings character L.P.C. Jr. is capable of meshing fiction and nonfiction into a mind game of endless wondering.

Army F.O.B. Marez (Forward Observation Base.) Iraq 2005

Fez King shut the fuck up and get that tire mounted so we can go! It’s like two something in the morning and I want to go to bed, you can stay here and work all night but I’m not going to. King a fucking room in the back of the motor pool bay isn’t like a room at the Hilton. Fez laughing, I’m telling you King, you better quit playing or I’ll smoke your fucking balls off got it? King laughing Roger that Sgt. Pot belly pig. In the dark warm room covered with shelves and slide out tool tray boxes holding tools and spare parts 2 cots lay set in the center space left. The glow in the dark hands on King’s watch read 4:42 a.m. as the scream rushed from one end of the bay to the other. King’s eyes burst open and instinctively ran to the noise not even looking back to see if Sgt’s fat ass was following but was sure it was. MEDIC! Seeing the soldiers urgentness King grabs a combat life saver bag and hauls ass out of the motor pool. As Kings eyes adjust to the night screams are heard from a long line of tanks staged for a convoy. From within the formation a flash light shines uncontrollably in the night. As King searches in the dark for footing he struggles to climb the tank, after all it wasn’t a Stryker.

(In a quiet small town some where in N.Y. now 2006-2007.)

In the dark of the bed room the ever soft ringing could be heard in King’s ears as his eyes open in a flash. Reaching for his rough face he lets out the common soft chuckle as he tastes the sweat from his face to confirm it’s not blood. From King’s side of bed the silk sheets ripple with gentle movements in front of his eyes and a soft warm hand glides up his stomach and gently across his chest. As King rolls his eyes in expectation a soft voice asks you O.K. babe? King yes babe, just got hot in here is all, I’m fine go back to sleep. Also on cue King rolls over knowing as always she was aware of more than he told her. Thinking of the times he caught her apprehensive eyes peering over the blanket at him as he woke. King lay using thoughts to fill his time instead of a drink and a smoke. It had been about 2 years since he got back from the sand box called Iraq and yet it felt like yesterday. The dreams, the flash backs, and triggers that sent chills down his spine.

    (local veteran hospital/ psychiatric counseling.)

As King approached the all too familiar room following his councilor he had often wished that it was for reasons other than these sessions, after all she was tall and slender and fairly attractive but this only helped to comfort him as he relived the events he held in memory as horror. So Perry how are we today? As always he paused as the thoughts overloaded him. Good I guess. She paused to judge his mood before asking so do you want to pick up were we left of on that night in the motor pool? She watched as instantly he was changing in front of her eyes and watched the pulse in his neck speed up as his adrenaline rose. Sure Perry said as he took a long deep breath before completely dissolving into that moment once again. well it was late in the evening, early morning in fact and I had ran out of the motor pool with an aid bag after someone yelling for a medic. Perry paused for a breath. I don’t even think I was awake until I got out side. I followed the noise to a tank that was staged to move out in the morning but didn’t know how to climb up." As the sweat came down his head the room got hotter so he took
