Preface
Windows of the Soul is a mindful compilation of original poems, random thoughts, and unhurried short stories spanning over five decades. The words comprising each poem and short story were penned from reflective observation, creative expression, and personal life experience. These words have not been shared in tandem until now.
I am grateful to everyone who had a part in helping this dream come to fruition. Hopefully, you will discover elements of yourself scattered amongst the pages.

Blessings from the Universe have allowed me be a vessel through which these words were written. I graciously give thanks for this endowment.
The completion of this book is a vision held dear to me for many years. I thank my son, Jeffrey Brunson, for his unwavering support and reassurance that this was an achievable endeavor.
I will forever be indebted to those who selflessly gave of their time to read, comfort, reread, bestow comments, and render suggestions. Their insights were invaluable. Sincere gratitude and a magnitude of editorial appreciation is extended to Sue Cole, Juanita Green, and Venetta Whitaker. Heartfelt thanks to Joan Bonaparte for traveling this path with me from way back when
and to Hilda Vest for continually sharing her poetic expertise.
To those who have enduringly impacted my artistic growth and creative reflections, I give thanks posthumously. I am spiritually beholden for the privilege of sharing life-spaces with Terri Lynn Jewell, Patricia Johnson, Dudley Randall, and my mother, Geraldine Shaw.
Without assistance and admirable validation from others, this project would have remained unfinished. To my extended family and friends, with whom I shared my words and was still encouraged
