    James Patrick followed up an honours degree from the University of Cambridge with an MA in Mysticism and Religious Experience from the University of Kent in Canterbury. His unlikely training for poetry was as a writer for BBC Radio 4 light events department and various television production companies. When he is not writing poems, he is taking historical and cultural tours around the UK and Western Europe. He is also a composer-conductor and lives in Hove.

      INTRODUCTION

      It was at an early age when I discovered this strange gift that brought so many premonitions and coincidences into my life.

      Being only 8 or 9 years old I did not understand it, in fact I was quite scared, as at that stage knew nothing of psychic and paranormal activity. It was to be another 15 years before by chance I encountered a clairvoyant lady one evening whilst having a drink in a bar in Chesterfield. Dark and mysterious she could see that there was upset in my life and held my right hand. Right at that very moment the lady stated she could feel strong psychic activity running through my body but it was very jumbled. This was to explain why so many of my premonitions never came out the way I had seen them.

      We talked for several minutes before she announced it was time for her to leave, she held my hand again and promised that good things would happen eventually in my life and also cursed anyone who unjustly did me wrong. This would prove to be an important factor in my life in the years to come.

      I never saw the lady again even though I called in the same bar on a few occasions at later dates. In fact management and locals denied that I could have met this woman as the only person they could think of fitting the description I gave had died over 5 years earlier. Had I seen a ghost ? The possibility was there as I had encountered strange situations before and at times thought I was going mad. All this would change some years later when I began work at the Hallam F M studios in May 2005.

      This is not a horror story or a ghost one for that matter as you would normally read about in a novel. This is a true story and all the events herein actually happened. Please read on.

      It was a warm sunny evening as I set off to start a new job at the Hallam F M radio studios. I was quite looking forward to it, I had never worked at a broadcasting station before plus I had been out of work for the past eighteen weeks so it was very pleasing to have been been given the opportunity.
